Which I-AA football schools have their basketball squad heading to the BKB post-season?

Northwestern State (Louisiana) won the SLC regular season title today and by virtue of such, they have clinched at worst, a bid to the NIT tournament. If they win the SLC tournament, they'll go to the NCAA of course, but if they were to fall in the SLC tournament, they would be heading to the NIT per the NCAA's new rules...

Who else has clinched atleast an NIT bid?

Northern Iowa is doing really well in their conference. They were briefly ranked but should make noise in the NIT or the Dance when they get in.

Northern Arizona should also get into the tourney through the Big Sky tourney. The BSC tourney is going to be held in Flagstaff which is going to be a huge plus for them.

Cal Poly is mathematically alive to get into the NCAA's if they win the Big West Conference Tournament, but they have no chance at the NIT.

UNI started off great, but they crashed and burned in the stretch, leaving them with an overall record of 22-8. We still will probably get in the Big Dance, but at this point we don't deserve it.

Bucknell has clinched the Patriot League regular season crown. With the NIT's new rules, this assures them at least an NIT bid.

Western Kentucky is looking good at 21-6 and 12-2 in sun belt play. Won the belt reg season championship. RPI looking good in the 40s. With a blowout win over UAB at UAB, 10 point home win over Virginia, overtime loss to Arizona at Arizona.

GSU wins the Socon title, and has at least an NIT bid.

Any chance we get into the NIT next season TT?

I think NW St falls a bit and SHSU should be near the top of the SLC. We only lose Chris Jordan. Granted he's our #1 player, but we'll have CJ Hadley back and perhaps a more inside presence...

That didn't answer my question. :)

What are the qualifications for getting into the NIT?

Lehigh will have to win the PL tournament to go anywhere. Their two losses to BUcknell and Holy Cross this week ends any chance of them getting an NIT

The new qualifications outside of the selection commitee is that if you were a regular season conference champ and DID NOT win the conference's tournament championship (also known as automatic bid), you get an auto-bid to the NIT...

NAU is the regular season Big Sky champ, so at least they will be in the NIT, NCAA if they win the Big Sky Tournament.

I'd be interested after this year's tournament field is announced to see how many more "mid-majors" made the NIT compared to last year because of this change..

I'd say it'd increase because you could have a conference like the SLC that hasn't been a two-postseason bid conference in sometime get a team in both the NIT and NCAA if all goes well...

I just hope it's not a bunch of sub .500 losers in there with these schools...
