And even if FGCU eventually decides to make the move, despite the massive financial and gender equity concerns, it will be at least seven years — likely a good bit more — before the school will begin play in a conference with a full class of recruits.

Carr Sports Associates, Inc., led by former University of Florida athletic director Bill Carr, presented FGCU President Wilson Bradshaw, the Board of Trustees, athletic director Ken Kavanagh, and several coaches and athletics department representatives with a point-by-point feasibility study during a Tuesday meeting.

“What you’ve got really, is a scenario where we finally have a framework to work off of,” Kavanagh said. “Now we have much more understanding of what the real world issues are.”
