Eastern Washington’s final football opponent, Delaware, is making its third appearance in a national championship game.
FRISCO, Texas — Before any national-championship game, there is a tendency to get caught up in the history of the schools involved.
That might leave some of Eastern Washington’s followers a bit doubtful about their team’s chances in today’s 4 p.m. NCAA Division I football final between the Eagles (12-2) and Delaware (12-2).
History is firmly on Delaware’s side, even though EWU comes in ranked No. 1 and riding a 10-game winning streak since a 30-7 road loss to Big Sky Conference co-champion Montana State on Sept. 25.
