Instead of burying this in the Moses thread, who look like front-runners for the 2011 Payton Award?
If a QB is the usual winner then stats from this season point to Brown (Liberty, Sr), Therriault (Jackson St, Sr), Brockman (Murray St, Jr), DeMarco (ODU, Sr), Sorensen (So Utah, Jr), Presley (App St, Sr), McGhee (Montana St, So), Coleman (Chattoonaga, Sr) and McGregor (Jacksonville, Sr).
RBs in contention would have been Eachus (Colgate, Sr) and Jones (EWU, Sr). With Jones declaring for the NFL yesterday it opens a slot for other RBs to enter the discussion and be in the running for vaious All-American honors next season. If healthy, Jones would have been a lock for most post-season RB honors.
Of course, part of the decision for awards depends on how far each of these players leads their individual teams during the season. Ah, spring practice is just a couple months away.
