Junior quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has felt right at home since his arrival on Eastern Washington’s campus. A newly installed red turf made for an eye-popping playing surface that helped Mitchell fit in perfectly.
“I love the red,” said Mitchell, who transferred from Southern Methodist. “It’s different. It separates us.”
The Eagles (12-2) separated themselves from competition all season, going 8-0 on the red rug installed prior to the season, including toppling defending national champion Villanova 41-31, to reach their first Championship Subdivision title game.
Now Mitchell, a Katy, Texas, native, is looking forward to playing in his home state Friday against Delaware in Frisco, Texas.
