Lions have signed starting quarterback Travis Lulay to a contract extension, the club said Monday.
Lulay, who took over the starting spot this year after injuries and locker-room issues ultimately caused Casey Printers to be released by the Lions, threw for 2,602 yards this year on 205 completions of 318 attempts.
On Nov. 2, Lulay threw for 424 yards in Hamilton to help B.C. squeeze into the playoffs. He was named the CFL's Offensive Player of the Week that week for his efforts.
Overall, Lulay was 4-5 as a starter last season.
Terms of the deal were not released, but there are initial reports the deal is for two years at $250,000 a year.
“This is a very exciting day for me and it’s difficult to express how proud I am to be extending my time with the club,” said Lulay in a statement. “I have enjoyed every second that I’ve have spent in BC and I know we have a team that is capable of some great things. I’m thrilled to be part of this organization and our fans can be assured that we’ll do all we can to bring the Grey Cup home where it belongs in 2011.”
