The Jacks get things rolling this week with spring practice...

Lumberjack football takes to the field for a 3:30 p.m. workout
Feb. 19, 2006

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team begins preparation for the 2006 season Monday afternoon as it will open spring practice with a 3:30 p.m. work out at Homer Bryce Stadium. Monday's session will be the first of 15 practices for the `Jacks over the course of the next month.

Approximately 85 athletes will hit the field Monday for the Lumberjacks' opening workout. Among the `Jacks' returnees are 2005 All-American Keldrick Holman and second-team All-Southland Conference running backs Louie Runnels and Michael Motte.

The `Jacks will play the first of three scrimmages on Saturday Feb. 25 beginning at 9 a.m. SFA will also hold a scrimmage on Friday Mar. 3 at 7 p.m. The annual spring game will be played Saturday Mar. 25 at 3 p.m. All scrimmages will take place in Homer Bryce Stadium. All practices are open to the public.

Why do we start so late? It seems we are letting everyone get a head up on us.

Doesn't make any difference on how early or how late...

Kids still get a certain amount of time in or they're in violation of NCAA rules. Ya know? It's just been a SHSU thing to start in March and run through April. I got no issue with it. Why have spring break interfer at a crucial part of practice?
