UMass hasn't had the greatest couple of years, and if they do jump to the MAC, there's a good chance they will want to have a higher profile head coach.

Actually, he's not. Dave Wannstedt is staying in the Pitt athletic department, which avoids a buyout (he was extended through 2014), keeps him off the job market for a while, and probably paves the way to consider an NFL job at some point.
