'Canes, Sooners to face off in 2007, 2009

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- The Miami Hurricanes and Oklahoma Sooners will renew their football rivalry next year after 20 seasons.

The teams will play at Oklahoma on Sept. 8, 2007, and in Miami on Sept. 12, 2009, officials said Thursday.

"This will be a great series played by two of college football's legendary teams," Miami athletic director Paul Dee said.

I want to see Miami-Notre Dame again

I am looking forward to the Buckeyes traveling to Texas this season.

Yeah, back during Miami's Indie days they used to play Oklahoma. That was back when Miami really had the mojo going for them, it seemed like they played a powerhouse every weekend.

Reminds me of Keith Jackson intoning, "...as we watch this intersectional rivalry." As a youngster, I always remember that term, 'intersectional rivalry' and thought it was neat..:)

One of the best Miami-Oklahoma games was on September 27, 1986 in the Orange Bowl. Testaverde lit up Boz and the OU defense and the Canes won 27-10 or something like that. Wow! 20 years later they play again. Where does the time go? AGGGHHH!!!

OU and UM had some great games in the mid 1980's, though Miami always prevailed.

There were some great Orange Bowl battles with National Championship implications back when Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer were coaching.
