Why isn't this game sold out? First playoff home game since 1992 perfect weather, yes its holiday weekend but that shouldn't matter.

http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/299819/

Not a 50-50 thing huh NCAA.

Try this on for size: NDSU bid $100k in cash to buy the home game. Ok, so that's $100k guaranteed that NDSU will pay the NCAA. THEN...ON TOP OF THAT....NCAA takes 75% of whatever ticket revenue comes through the door.

Basically, with the sad attendance for this game, I don't see how NDSU can make money on this one. But I suppose getting the first home playoff game since Fargodome was built was too important.

Not so sure that is the objective here.
After expenses, which total about $25,000, the NCAA gets 75 percent of the net income from the game. If actual ticket sales mirror what’s budgeted, the NCAA would take in $131,362.50.

NDSU’s share would be $43,787.50.

Don't mind Mpls

xlolx Really? You read that article? They already sold 2,000 more tickets than the bid.

Simpleton.

NCAA takes 75% of ticket sales, period. So if NDSU sells 10k tickets at $10 each, that's $100k and the NCAA gets $75k of that. Then NDSU owes the NCAA $100k on top of that.

I think that's how it works. Someone point to the NCAA handbook otherwise or I won't trust you.

OH don't pretend to be naive...we all know for a fact that NDSU would've bid to host the game at a loss in a second!

I'm just saying, I think it's wrong that they were able to buy the game instead of "earning it" (IE, being one of the best 10 teams in the 20 team field) - thus, I hope they take a loss on the game.

They've shown a couple shots of the dome and the upper level is nearly empty, I don't know if the game was sold out beforehand, but a lot of fans seem to have left.

NDSU finally seems to have found a stride, and has put together some nice drives. If NDSU can play all the time as well as they do when they are on a streak, they will be a dangerous team.

Couple thoughts on the crowd:

1) Attendance was about 12,500 which is pretty decent considering the time they had to sell tickets and the timing of the game on the holiday weekend.
2) The fans who were there weren't the usual golf clappers that we typically see sitting between the 20s in the Fargodome. The entire crowd got on it's feet more times in this game than in the first 6 combined most likely.
3) I've been in the south endzone for every game this year and this was the loudest I've heard it. The times that RMU was backed up at our end it was deafening, I wish we could've seen the safety up close.

That hit Gratzek laid on their QB to force the safety was just animal. Love what Matt brings to the table and cry myself to sleep when I remember he's a senior.

Does Robert Morris offer scholarships? Does Robert Morris have a campus or are they part of the ITT group of colleges and universities?

Since Robert Morris is in the NEC they can give up to 40 schollies. I'm not sure if they're at the NEC max.

The school is a located in suburban Pittsburgh. It's a private institution.
Their bball team almost beat 'Nova in first round of the NCAA tourney this year.

Yes they offer scholarships, I have heard they are using around 30, but no confirmation.

Just got in the door from the game, 3.5 hour drive. #2 for sure even with a token student attendance. :)

No offense, but with 63 scholarships available, and WIU finishing ahead of NDSU outright, how did you end up with an 'easier' road in our respective brackets? Explain. With a lack of explanation, as there is none you can offer, we will throw all over Happy State.

The selection committee picked it, not us. Sorry?

NDSU has the full complement of 63 scholarships allowed in the FCS. The Northeast has a conference cap of 34 scholarships, which is scheduled to increase to 36 next year and 40 in 2013. RMU had 30 full rides, said head coach Joe Walton.

Congrats on the win and the good crowd! Now let's hope you and the 'Necks can uphold some MVC love next week!

Not sure where you posters get off saying the crowd was dead. Loudest I have heard all season and it started in the first quarter.

From what I hear we had the best attendance of the playoff games today @ 12,200. GA Southern was in the 10,000 range and the other two were in the 3,500-4,000 range. So I think we did quite well for a new FCS program.

The webcast used the TV feed which really dials down the crowd volume. The radio feed would have been much louder.

Anyone who thought the crowd was tame should watch this video. It gives a much better representation of the actual atmosphere in the Fargodome yesterday.

Probably had to do with which teams the selection committee thought would be the best to host. Obviously they never expected WIU, with a 16k stadium, to cheap-out on their bid and lose the host to a 6 win Coastal team with a 9k stadium.
