CHICAGO - The Gridiron Power Index (GPI), the index ranking for the NCAA Division I FCS and a top indicator of at-large playoff selection sees Delaware remain on top in the GPI rankings after their 45-27 win over Massachusetts this past weekend.

If you look at the detail

https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0At2w-dbZUZ2gdG9wYVVDd1ZhNkR2R0xfZTVfY3lucHc&hl=en&output=html

The GPI has Richmond's AGS rank as #10, but it should be #20.
This keeps the Spiders at 18 in the GPI, but with a score of 19.625

It also shows UD & App State tied at #1.

Ewu does not need Montana state to lose to win the big sky...but we do need them to lose to get the autobid. They're different things. Apparently nobody told these guys.

WOW THE GPI IS OFFICIALLY DECLARED BIASED... I CHALLENGE EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD TO NAME THE 32-83 SCHOOLS THAT WOULD BEAT MY SCSU BULLDOGS BY AT LEAST 1 POINT...

THAT'S WOULD NOT HAPPEN AT THE FCS LEVEL... GO AHEAD, I'LL WAIT...

Anyone feel like compiling the Modified-Version of the GPI that the NCAA FCS Playoff Selection will look at?

I bet B-CU, JU and a few other teams will sky rocket in that GPI compaired to this one due to the Sagarin and Sauceda rankings being removed and adding the Wolfe Rankings.

Take a look at the 3 poll rankings. Then take a look at the matrix of all the computer rankings ( the detail of the GPI ). When there is a large discrepancy between poll rankings and computer rankings there exists a problem. It is obvious that the inclusion of the Wolfe rankings was done to help balance that. But seriously, that poll- while interesting to read- rates a DIII team roughly equal to Div I-A San Jose St. Now SJSU may stink at their level, but I'd be hard pressed to see a Div III team come within 50 points of them.

It will be interesting Sunday. No team has *ever* gotten an at-large when their GPI rank was outside the top 25, much less at 50! Then again, you'd be hard pressed to find an eligible team ranked so high in the human polls that was left out of the playoffs.

I'm in the process of doing the spreadsheet now. Pain in the butt because the Wolfe rankings aren't in CSV so I have to manually enter the numbers in the spreadsheet.

I would say yes, you do need MSU to lose to win the Big Sky Championship. Reason I give. MSU wins the tie breaker over EWU, thus giving the title to MSU.
Yes, it would be a shared title, but MSU will be declared first in all the standings. But this all depends on who wins Cat/Griz and assuming EWU beats Idaho State.

Geez, all non CAA, Big Sky, SoCon and MVFC are just sliding.

Would they really keep SEMO out in place of Sac. State? if SEMO is having trouble getting in, best believe that no other team not from the Big Sky, CAA, MVFC or SoCon are not getting in this thing which would absolutely suck.

But it is what it is. A 9-2 season is nothing to frown upon. The did the best they could with what their school scheduled. Can't be mad at that at all.

We still get to put up a banner that declares us Big Sky Champions. that's what I'm referring to. In the scenario of EWU wins, and so does MSU, and then you ask the Big Sky office....hey, who was the Big Sky Conference champion for football this year....they're not going to say MSU, they're going to say MSU and EWU.

Sac won't have 7 DI wins and if Weber St. loses to Texas Tech they wouldn't have a quality win either. They have less than a 5% chance of making it.

I will be stunned if SEMO doesn't get in. I think they've certainly earned a spot in the field. If Western were able to knock off UNI this weekend, I could certainly see a SEMO/WIU first-rounder. Chattanooga also a possiblity. Tough to find a decent regional matchup outside of those two.

I know we've slid a bit, but is Weber's win over Montana not considered a quality win?

That would be a quality win. A win over Montana still carries that kind of weight.

Unfortunately, not going to have 7 FCS wins or a signature victory. A few plays away from being a top 10 team and probably playing as well as anyone in the country right now, but the committee would really have to break precedent to give the Hornets an at-large.

Wow that is crazy that the only MVFC team not in the top 50 is Youngstown. That makes us only having 1 conference loss (so far - still one big game in Macomb left) looks impressive, when it really probably isn't that impressive...

How does Bethune Cookman get ranked #4 in anybodies system? They have only one quality win (14-0), against SC State. Their OOC wins came against two 1-9 FCS teams and DII or III Edward Waters, a team that has lost all 4 games they've played, being outscored 176-31. The remaining six in-conference teams they've beat have a combined OOC record of 4-13, and 3 of the 4 wins came against D-II teams. Top 25 maybe, but even that may be a stretch. This weekend's FAMU game should be interesting.

Initially I believe BC gets votes simply because they haven't lost. When you look at their schedule it's pathetic. If they lose this weekend they will drop like a rock but probably still be in the playoffs.
