Another #1 falls. It is not good to be ranked #1 this season.
'Nova digs deep in second half to overcome Huskies
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Villanova went inside in the first half and stayed outside in the second. Add some solid defense and an offensive boost from an unlikely source, and the Wildcats came up with a way to beat No. 1 Connecticut.
Allan Ray keyed the Wildcats' 7-for-9 effort from 3-point range in the second half and fourth-ranked Villanova beat the Huskies 69-64 Monday night, its first victory over a top-ranked team in nearly 11 years.

That was a nice cute win. Won't happen again in 13 days. Too bad Nova chose to peak at the wrong time of the year.

Bah! I'm a big UConn fan...
UConn will get them in the Big East tournament. It was best they get this loss out of the way now, out of their system...
UConn is still going to be one of the last two standing at the end of the year...

I don't know why I'm bothering to respond to this, since you obviously haven't seen any Villanova games this year, but saying that Villanova is peaking too early is ridiculous. We have played quite poorly in our last 5-6 games (but still managed to win all of them). Even tonight, Nardi was a non-factor and Foye had a sub-par outing, yet we managed to knock off the #1 team in the land. Real "cute". This Villanova team is for real.

UConn will own them in Gampel in 12 days. But first we need to get past WVU.
It was a great game, and a good Big Monday. Nice chance for the Big East to show the rest of the country what top flight college basketball looks like. :D

You will be owned up in Gampel. Nova won't be able drop all those 3s in that environment. We'll see how for real they are at that point.

Yawn. Of course a UConn fan will always have an excuse. You were beaten fair and square last night, and could very well be beaten again in that hole known as Storrs. UConn still won't have an answer for our defensive pressure, your ballhandling will still be shaky, and Kyle Lowry will still get to the rack at will.

:boring: :boring: Lets see... UCONN only lost by how many? 5!!! The game was played in Philly. I believe we have had the discussion about how big of a difference home court makes. I have learned you shouldn't talk too early. It might come back to bite you.

So much for that theory. Any questions?

Most people expected Uconn to win the game in Storrs today. They played great in the second half, shot something like 65% from the field. 'Nova got in foul trouble fairly early in the second half and with their lack of depth they couldn't play their style. I will say that Sheridan is a monster for 'Nova. Despite his size, 6'9, he outplayed everyone on Uconns front line IMO, he just didn;t have anyone to help him. These two teams IMO are copy cats of Illinois and UNC last year. 'Nova's the gaurd orientated team with strog leadership and Uconn has the depth and pure talent that the Tar Heels had last year. I think everyone is hoping for a rematch in the Big East title game and then potentially in the tourney. When it's all said and done i think UConn will deffinately be in Indy and 'Nova will have to battle their way there similar to the Illini last year. I thought a couple weeks ago the Final Four faves were UConn, Duke, West Virginia, Tennessee and Ohio State. I still stand firmly by the except right now i'd replace WVU with 'Nova. WVU has slipped a little and 'Nova has remained steady but both give the big east 3 chances for the final four. I love Ohio State right now with Thad Matta. He took Xavier to the Elite 8 in 2004 where they lost to Duke and has a team that can win road games in the tough big ten, his teams are always tough outs. And Tennessee has Bruce Pearl who if anyone saw the Florida game this weeks looks like he's playing a double header in a suana. He's one of the top coaches in the country and when leadership and good coaching are the to needs in March with the short turnarounds and such, Tennessee looks good. See what happens though i love this time of the year. March is my favorite month of the year.
