Navy played the Mountain Hawks tough at Stabler Arena last month, but tonight they lit up the Halsey scoreboard with their biggest winning margin of the year, 74-49. Leading by only 5 at the half, the Hawks shot 74% in the second half, including 6/7 from three-point land. Big 7' freshman Gourlay played substantial minutes due to foul trouble for the starting front court players and scored 9 points. Now 8-1, Hawks have an excellent opportunity to win the next three (Army, Lafayette, Colgate) to go into the Bucknell game with an 11-1 record on February 22. Hopefully, Taylor will have them focused on these next three and not be looking down the road. But the future is looking bright for Lehigh basketball the way the underclassmen are playing.

It's a shame they completely blew in the non-conference schedule because they'd have a pretty good chance at an NIT bid with the attention Bucknell is bringing the league. Even so, if they fall in the conference title game i think they deserve a shot in the postseason, maybe against Temple? Might get pops to make a trip to north broad if that would ever happen.

If they win the next three, split Bucknell and Holy Cross, then they'll host two rounds and who knows what happens. But two wins over HC or a split with HC and BU would certainly rate strong consideration for NIT. I still don't think the league will get an at-large. Plus HC acquitted themselves well last year, too, in the NIT.

If Bucknell runs the table until the tourny final but loses there, it would be interesting to see if they got an at large. Most likely not though. Keep in mind I think HC was the first NIT team either ever or in many years.

No I am quite proud of how we played despite distractions and injuries. I just can't get over everyone thinking Lehigh has a good basketball program. The 1-23, 5-20 days still echo in my thoughts.

Well the Navy coach was quoted in the Baltimore Sun as saying he felt LU was just as good as the other top teams in the PL. I was in school when 1-25, 5-20, were common and 'expected'. There was a power outage one night at Grace Hall, and according to the Brown & White the Engineer's shooting percentage went up 50% during that span. Wrestling and Football will likely always out-favor basketball, but with the nice arena we have, you'd think we should be able to get rolling rather than just a few top years like the late 1980's with Queenan and Company.

Well when you get whipped, every team just starts to look as good as every other.
