The Bearkats are opening up their new place this weekend! We're all excited about it. I'm interested to see what happens. We're playing a SWAC school, Texas Southern to be specific so it's like playing an NAIA school to get things rolling in football. The Tigers are coming off a "record-breaking" weekend where they lost by scores of 14-6, 18-2 and 23-6 for a 55-14 run-differential to the Islanders of A&M-CC. The "fireworks" should definitely go off at SHSU if this is the case in Huntsville. SHSU beat the Tigers by counts of 21-1 and 12-3 last year. This year, the Kats are much better.

Softball opens up this weekend too right next door with a tournament featuring LaTech and North Texas. Our softball team lost two in the final day of the SLC tournament and missed out on the NCAAs. The energy of a new ballpark and another great recruiting class, as well as our All-Region sophomore pitcher (she was SLC Pitcher of the Year as a true freshman) should lead to great things...

I feel bad for Texas Southern...

They got blitzed by A&M-CC and are walking into this atmosphere. They used to get pushed around Holleman Field, which was more similar to their surroundings at Memorial Park (the city park in which they share a field with some upper-levels of Little League baseball). Now, they're coming into our pitchers' park. Going to be tough for those guys...

:bawling: Maybe they should give up baseball. However, they might get lucky. It is supposed to rain this weekend.
