At Northern Colorado, I am excited about 3 players that I can see make impact in the next year maybe two.

Also,
Andy Muns,

He was All-Colorado and Colorado offensive player of the year.

The videos below are arranged in the order of what I feel will be the players impact on the Griz. Swogger and Chambers make the most immediate impact. Selle will redshirt but might end his career as one of the top QB's ever at Montana. Bender and Overton could get substantial playing time as true freshmen and will be stars for the program. Bradshaw will be a backup this year at RB and starter next year. Our backup running backs get a lot of carries, so he'll play plenty this season.
Josh Swogger (http://streamingmedia.montanagrizzlies.com/umgriz/2005_2006_an/Media/Football/2006_Recruit/swogger.wmv)
Craig Chambers (http://streamingmedia.montanagrizzlies.com/umgriz/2005_2006_an/Media/Football/2006_Recruit/chambers.wmv)
Reggie Bradshaw (http://streamingmedia.montanagrizzlies.com/umgriz/2005_2006_an/Media/Football/2006_Recruit/bradshaw2.wmv)
Rob Overton (http://streamingmedia.montanagrizzlies.com/umgriz/2005_2006_an/Media/Football/2006_Recruit/overton.wmv)
Andrew Selle (http://streamingmedia.montanagrizzlies.com/umgriz/2005_2006_an/Media/Football/2006_Recruit/selle.wmv)

From what I can tell the McNeese recruit that interests me most is Bernardo Henry from Leesville, LA, high school.
Henry is reportedly a 5'10", 180 pound track guy. The hype says he had interest from Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. Arkansas is reported to have offered. We know how that works. But I know he had interest from Central Florida and showed up for a while on the usf.rivals.com page for awhile before he finalized.

This guy may not be a 3 or 2 star recruit by rivals but he can play...
MATT ANDERSON, Linebacker, 6-3, 210, Cavalier, N.D. (Cavalier H.S.)--North Dakota's 2005 Class A Player of the Year as a senior ... Led Cavalier to three state titles and 47-1 record under the direction of Rod Oksendahl ... Two-time all-state first team selection ... Three-time all-region pick ... Sprinter on the Tornadoes track & field team with a school record time of 10.81 in the 100 and 22.31 in the 200 ... Anchorman on the 2005 state champion 400 meter relay and third place 800 meter relay ... Also played basketball ... Undecided on college major ... Son of Doug and Vonda Anderson.

NDSU had a great class but these three really stand out to me. Anderson is is just a great athlete and he will be a force during his career at NDSU. He is a perfect type of LB for a the Tampa 2 defense coach Bohl runs. Colvin stands out to me because he is the one recruit that could make a big impact right away. Blincoe also stands out because he just so athletic and who knows where he would be going to school if he wasn't second on the depth chart behind another great back that is going to UCLA.

McNeese really went after some speed this year.
And the fastest guy we got is the Guidry kid from WMHS. That guy can fly...
He runs a 4.27 ! :hyped:
Also, we got some realy tall Wide Outs this year. 6'3", 6'4", and a 6'2" kid all with speed to burn.
Makes me think McNeese plans to throw the ball alot with Franklin and Lawrance who can't be covered now.
McNeese might have more All American Track Stars on the team than All American Football players in a couple of years.

I think ultimately Patrick Simonds, 6'5" 200 lbs receiver, will be the star of this class. The kid is agile and has hands. He should see the field as a frosh and may start as a sophomore. Plenty of Colgate fans are thinking "Luke Graham, Part Duex"!

Don't forget Ronald Cousin, 6-0, 205, DB/RB, of McDonogh 35 HS in New Orleans. He was a hurricane Katrina evacuee and wound up at a catholic school in Atlanta. Before the storm, he was getting serious interest from Miami, LSU, Florida State, etc. His coach in NO, Wayne Reese, coached Marshall Faulk in HS and says they're very similar athletically. His highlight video made me want to        He has the ability to make an immediate impact.
Another kid that was quite interesting from an upside standpoint is Patrick Fontenot, 6-8, 260, DL, from Broadmoor HS in Baton Rouge. He's a great athlete, especially for a big, tall, rangy young man. He's a bit of project but how he slid under the radar is a mystery. Thought I was watching the second coming of Ed "Too Tall" Jones.
The rest of the recruits were impressive on tape as well but Cousin and Fontenot stood out in addition to the others you mentioned. This was a REALLY GOOD CLASS!!! :beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug:

All our recruits are the best in the counrty what else do you expect from the A10 powerhouse UMass Minutemen...
Nah on a serious note... we have a good class coming in... Brown seemed to have taken a new aproach this season as for his recruits. He brought in 6 JUCO kids and 2 transfers(one more after the spring semester) so he could get the kids in early and make a good run at it again next season. He seemed to be playing hole filler getting 5 maybe 6 DBs, 2 OLine, 2 maybe 3 WRs, 2 TE, 2 LBers, 1 RB and 1 K/P. We lost a few DBs, 2 OLine, 2 WR, 1 TE, and 2 LBers of note so he did a good job filling need.
Quotes from Brown about the class:
Anthony Rouzier and Josh Jennings are our two linebacker additions. Rouzier is a transfer from UConn and its great to have him here. His dad is our UMass team physician. He stands on his own and had a good true freshman year at UConn and will jump right in the mix and provide great depth not only on defense but on special teams and have a chance to compete.
Jennings was a conference defensive player of the year at Dean College was the leading tackler and leading sacker in the league. Two years ago, he was the Gatorade Connecticut State Player of the Year. He may be the best straight-line blitzer I have ever recruited.
Michael Thomas is at Fork Union Military Academy and runs a 4.4 in the 40. He was a great tailback out of Columbus, Ohio and was recruited by Division I-A Ohio and Bowling Green but chose UMass over those schools. He has a chance to play the "Dog" which is the fifth defensive back, the nickel which is utilized in our system. We are excited about his potential.
Shaun Allen is a defensive lineman that was a teammate with Josh Jennings at Dean College. He needs to finish up and get his degree there this spring and he will join us in the spring. He's a 6-3-lineman, who can run a 4.7. He is a tremendous pass rusher. He will get in a fill the void left by Keron Williams departure.
John Ihme is a tight end who is a First Team All-State performer in New Jersey, the state champions. He was in a similar offensive system to the one we have at UMass, so he knows a lot of the things we do from a blocking scheme standpoint. His coach Chris Olsen has a son Greg Olsen, who plays at Miami, so he knows what a good tight end is.
Ke'mon Bailey went to Hugenot High School in Virginia where Sean Smalls went to high school. He was recruited by Kansas and Kansas State and several schools in the A-10. He can impact us on both sides of the ball at wide receiver or defensive back. He had a lot of I-A interest.

Carson Hill - CB - 5'10" 175lbs.
Top 30 CB in the nation according to ESPN. Older brother, Leroy Hill is a starting LB for the Seahawks. Turned in the fastest shuttle time in the nation at the Nike Combine (3.69). Had offers from GA Tech, Alabama, Clemson, Vanderbilt, and Southern Miss.
Matt Duke - OL - 6'5" 285lbs.
Ranked 80th nationally by ESPN.
The best name in I-AA without a doubt, Chopper Foskey - DE - 6'2" 225lbs. :D
Chopper can play, too.

Chopper can play, too.
Yeah, heard some great things about Chop, ( ;) )
He's one of those OLB/DE tweeners that can rush as a down lineman or play coverage as a LB. From what I understand, he a bigger version of John Mohring...loves to hit and can absolutely fly.

Probably these guys...Johnson's local-product status has generated a lot of attention. Looks like Richie Williams opened the floodgates for SC QB's at ASU:
COCO HILLARY (QB, 5-10, 185, Edgefield, S.C./Strom Thurmond)
Amassed over 3,100 yards of total offense (2,300+ passing, 800+ rushing) and 37 touchdowns to lead Strom Thurmond to the 2005 South Carolina 3A state championship ... named S.C. 3A State Player of the Year by High School Sports Report and second-team all-state by The State.
ARMANTI EDWARDS (QB, 6-0, 175, Greenwood, S.C./Greenwood)
Multi-talented left-handed quarterback threw for over 2,000 yards and ran for over 1,100 as a senior ... accounted for 29 touchdowns (17 passing, 12 rushing) in 05 ... played in 2005 Shrine Bowl ... began playing quarterback midway through junior season in which he threw for nearly 1,400 yards and 18 touchdowns and hauled in five passes for over 100 yards and a score at wide receiver.
JOSH JOHNSON (WR, 6-3, 190, Newland, N.C./Avery County)
Local product represented the High Country in 2005 Shrine Bowl ... caught 101 passes for over 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior to help lead Avery to 11-3 record and second round of state 2A playoffs ... an all-state performer.
MARQUIS MELVIN (DB, 6-0, 205, Whiteville, N.C./Whiteville)
Attended West Virginia University for 2005 fall semester ... redshirted for Mountaineer squad that won 2006 Sugar Bowl and finished ranked No. 5 nationally in I-A ... played as a prep at Whiteville High School, where he helped lead his squad a 9-4 record and the third round of the 2004 N.C. state playoffs ... played in 2004 Shrine Bowl ... recorded 12 career interceptions ... amassed seven INTs alone as a senior to go a long with over 100 tackles on defense and 700 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns on offense.
those two will have a couple years to develop, which is good, having Junior and Senior starting QB's is key in the SoCon

Chris Daino, after he committed to UD, Joe Paterno and Penn State made offers. He turned them down. The Best info about this is on www.gohens.net. One of the best I-AA sites for real info around.
I'd also include Jared Bradley... 6'1" 210... RB out of PA.... Bradley was listed by 'Rivals' as the #60 RB in the nation and the top rated RB to commit to a I-AA program.

Sam Houston had a really small class because of only 12 ships to offer this year, but these two kids caught my eye...
ELLIS KNIGHT Safety 6-1 185 Ardmore, OK
First team PrepStar Magazine All-Region and All-District ... Daily Oklahoma South Region Top 10 recruit ... led Ardmore to number one ranking in Oklahoma Class 5A and state playoff berth. He was a preseason Rivals.com Oklahoma top 30 player.
(This kid had Colorado St, Kansas St, Tulsa, Iowa St and Kansas on his list of college choices. Maybe we got a steal?)
MAGIC ROBINSON Running back 5-8 180 Klein Forest
First team All-District 14-5A running back for Coach Ken Hammock ... gained 1,181 yards on 143 carries (8.3 per carry), scoring 12 touchdowns as a senior ... district champion in the 100 meter dash in track and field ... posted best 100 meter dash time of 10.4 as junior

At Northern Colorado, I am excited about 3 players that I can see make impact in the next year maybe two.
Dominic Breazeale, QB
6'6 ½, 250 pounds
Wow, 6'6". Swogger might be one of our biggest starting QB's in Griz history, if he starts that is, and he is a transfer at 6'5". Brandon Neil transfered from Wyoming back in 2000 and was around 6'4" or so but he wasn't a starter. Nice job for N.Colorado if he pans out and you can have a tall QB for 3 years or more.

Wow, an out of state player. Is he the only one on the roster?
How many of these guys do you think will be redshirted? The RB for sure because we already have 2 or 3 that can carry the load.

Whoa, there, Babba Louie, I think you're extrapolating a bit too far here--"most grizz (sic) fans"? Says who? I've seen one or two Griz fans, tops, who've posted anywhere that NC won't be competitive in the BSC. The vast majority of us remember that NC has won two Division II titles in not-so-distant years, and know that they recruit in a fairly fertile area, so we've made no such predictions.
Don't make rash generalizations. There are many Griz fans who wanted the Dakota schools in the 'Sky, but that hardly means we all think you're destined to be a perpetual doormat.
...and TB, those few who have posted that NC will be a perennial bottom-dweller may get their comeuppance(s), but that's only crow for two (or a tableful or so).
The few don't necessarily represent the many.

On paper Bradley and Daino have the edge and Bradley in particular will probably see some playing time. I think we also have some hidden gems that will come out. I also like Horton from Florida and Johnson from New York. (I just love anyone named Johnson from upstate New York!!!!)

On offense I will go with Kyle Minett - Minett finished second on the Minnesota all-time high school rushing list with 6,176 career yards, scoring 81 touchdowns. He was three-time all-state (The Associated Press) and all-conference selection. On defense, he had 260 career tackles with 20 sacks, playing for coach Kent Mikkelson at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton High School. A member of the National Honor Society, he plans to study engineering.
On defense I will go with Antonio Thompson - Thompson has had a standout career at Roosevelt High School (Sioux Falls, SD), not only in football but wrestling and track. In football, he played for coach Brent DeBoer and was a member of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader Elite 45 team. He was has also been a three-time all-conference wrestler winning the state 215 pound title last year, and placed in four events at the 2005 state track meet. In football last season, he played both ways, finishing with 43 tackles including six sacks while on offense, he rushed for 977 yards with 15 TDs, averaging 7.13 yards per carry.

Duke Dog, we'll see, but I'll be happy to see Griff Yancey not catch a pass, while our WR's are catching passes all over the field, so he will know he chose the wrong school! :smiley_wi

Cal Poly recruiting class seems to be very good top to bottom, but these are the players who stand out to me:
Kyle Maddux LB 6'1" 210 lbs
Kyle is a two star recruit who was an All-State linebacker at Saint Bonaventure High School. He was a three year starter and in his senior year he had 89 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 2 blocked kicks and 2 pass breakups. He ran a 4.61 forty, 31 reps on the bench at one of the Nike Camps last summer. He is only 210 lbs but benches 365 lbs.
Bobby Best DE 6'3" 245 lbs.
Bobby is also a two star recruit who is a two time All-CIF two way lineman from Gilroy HS. He had 71 tackles and 11 sacks this season. He ran a 4.83 forty with a 31" verticle leap. He squats 625 lbs. Might be our next Chris Gocong.
Jono Grayson RB/DB/KR 5'7" 170 lbs.
Jono is the cousin of former Cal Poly All-American KR Darrell Jones. He ran for 2,180 yards with 28 TDs and 345 yards receiving with 3 TDs this season. He also had 3 INTs on defense. Jono was North Bay Player of the Year and second team All-State DB.
Scottie Cordier QB/DB/KR 5'9" 170 lbs.
Scottie completed 61% of his passes for 1,582 yards with 22 TDs and ran for 642 yard (7.8 yd/carry) and 8 TDs this season. On defense he had 49 tackles with 3 INTs. He guided San Leandro to a 12-1 record with their only loss coming in the CIF championship to power house De La Salle. He was Cal-Hi player of the year and a second team All-State multipurpose player. He will get a shot at QB, but may end up as a WR or DB.
William Mitchell DL 6'1" 280 lbs.
William was a two way lineman for Berkley HS. He had 31 tackles for lost yardage with 13 sacks and 74 tackles this season. He forced 4 fumbles recovery 3. He was two time All-League OL/DL, a second team All-Metro (San Fransico) defensive lineman and a first team East Bay Offensive Lineman.
