This is definitely one of those golf events that I really get excited for - The Ryder Cup! xnodx
Wonder if Tiger is going to come out and perform at this one. Did well at last year's Presidents' Cup event. Does the USA have any shot at beating the European side?

While the Europeans are very good, I think the US has a very good shot at winning this thing. I mean look at some of the best golfers in the past month on the PGA Tour and Dustin Johnson was at the head of that pack for most of the month. He is playing some of his best golf...and a rested Tiger can only mean good things. He had a down year and this is his chance to show people that he can get threw is personal issues and excel on the course...it should be some good watching nontheless!

Early pairings...
Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer (Europe) vs Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson (USA)
Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell (Europe) vs Stewart Cink and Matt Kuchar (USA)
Padraig Harrington and Luke Donald (Europe) vs Bubba Watson and Jeff Overton (USA)
Ian Poulter and Ross Fisher (Europe) vs Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker (USA)
Why is Furyk sitting out? Should play each session IMO.

As a clarification to TT's post, Tiger and Stricker will be 3rd pairing and Bubba and Overton will clean up.

This is going to be interesting... believe rain is projected for Sunday, so not sure they can finish. Just hope if it does rain, that the US team has rectified their rain jacket situation...
NEWPORT, Wales -- In a reasoned attempt to finish the Ryder Cup as close to Sunday afternoon as possible, the two captains and officials of the European PGA Tour and the PGA of America have decided to compress the next two sessions.
Rather than send out four foursomes matches in Session Two and four ball matches in Session Three, all 12 players on each team will play in each of the final three sessions. As soon as the opening fourball session concludes (some time Saturday morning), the next session will be six foursome matches instead of four. That will be followed by two more foursome matches (for a grand total of eight) going out at the same time as four more fourball matches.
Once all of that is complete (very likely sometime Sunday morning), the 12 singles will begin.

Not looking good for the Americans. We need to find a way to get to 9 points before the 12 single matches. I will feel a lot better if we can. It is going to take a miracle with the way some of the 3rd session matches were going at the end of the day

Euros lead all six matches going on right now... sure does not look good.
Can't go into the final session (singles) trailing or we'll need to play incredible.

Tied 6-6...
But each teams leads one with two others all square. USA warming up. Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson rallied from three down...
Euros are leaving putts short. US had a few chances to really win some holes in the last 20 min or so.

Mickelson is a loser beyond my capacity for description. How he is rated one of the top golfers in the world brings into question the validity of the rating system. But when he retires Dustin Johnson will be a more than adequate replacement.

Need Cink to beat McIlroy...
All squared at the 18th hole. Let's go Cink! Got to see more red on the board.

Cink misread a putt and went AS with McIlroy...
USA in trouble right now. Euros are 3 1/2 from taking the cup. Need a few more of these matches to turn the corner.

USA trails 11-9.
USA leads in four matches. Win all those, you lose 15-13. Need to turn one blue to red.

Looks like it will come down to Hunter Mahan...
He's down two through 10 against McDowell...
If USA holds their matches and can win that one, they'll take the Cup.
TexasTerror
October 4th, 2010, 09:25 AM
Mahan remains two down through 13...
Still looking likely that it comes down to that match. USA is 4 up and 5 up in two matches. Euros are 3 up and 2 up (Mahan match).
Euros still would win15-13... if it all holds.

If you told me yesterday that we would lose 13.5-14.5 I would have called you a liar. What a fight put up by the Americans. Just shot ourselves in the foot with a poor Session 3.

European side wins 15-13...
We'll have to get them back in two years...
