Did Lehigh give scholarships in late 70's?
Back when they were a power,regardless of D-2 or D-1AA classification?
Also,why name change from Engineers to Mountain hawks?

According to my understanding neither Lehigh, Lafayette, Colgate or Bucknell has ever given football scholarships. They however have long given financial aid to football players, just not in the form of full and traditional scholarships.

Lehigh changed their nickname because they were concerned about their image as an "engineering school". They wanted to portray themselves as a comphrehensive university and not just an engineering school so they felt a name change was in order. They of course went from a really cool nickname to a really lame one.
