LU does nothing with the ball during the final 1:39 of the half. Campbell and Colvin each for a handful of yards; a couple of short passes - dropped or off-target. They even emptied the backfield on one play but still couldn't find a open receiver. A dissapointing 2nd quarter of play after giving their followers some hope with solid running plays during the first 15 minutes. LU to get the ball to start the second half. Expect more running plays and an effort to control TOP in the 2nd half. Probably only way we get back into this game.
At the half..........

Peters has the burst to get throught the hole and around the corner. Also he is running much harder than he did last year. I still would like to see Setian get some carries, but it is good for him to at least get into teh game. The play calling is more imaginative and they are running motion and making the defense adjust to different formations
LU65
September 25th, 2010, 01:51 PM
LU goes quickly with first possession. UNH takes the ball and runs Peters and finds Orlando for one completion after another. LU still rushing 3 and giving far too much cushion on the wideouts. UNH goes for it on 4th and one but fails. LU takes over on their 44.

It only gets worse! LU picks up an handful of yards on Campbell run and flair passes but is force to punt from their 50. A bad snap, mis-hanlded ball and a 10 yard punt.
UNH goes upstairs on second play - Toman to Fox. Down to the LU 19.

Joey Orlando out of Bethlehem, PA (of all places) pick up another TD pass on the day. LU's 3 down linemen are limiting UNH up the middle but their LBs and DBs can't close quick enough on the Wildcat receivers.

Decker keeps it on the ground surrounded by players down - if not off - the depth chart. LU holds and takes over on down. Run one play and that's it. Final: UNH 34 - LU 10.
Despite the loop-sided score, it was the "O" that deserves the brunt of the criticism. With a bye week (10/7) couldn't come at a better time. Injured today were: Pierce, Kennedy and O'Brian. Hopefully Lum will be ready to lead the team in 14 days when Fordham visits Goodman Stadium.
The bloody details:
Yards gained
UNH 519
LU 129
Plays run
UNH 89
LU 52
Colvin's Passing

Thanks for the thread. I listened to the game on the radio while watching another debacle in person (Johns Hopkins at Moravian) and it sounded as ugly as the game I was watching! The Lehigh radiomen felt that UNH's QB is superior to Villanova's Whitney. Excellent versatility on offense. Lehigh's D sounded valiant being stranded out there for 90 plays in the heat. Yes, Colvin got baptized today, but it also sounded like our OL got manhandled which prevented any kind of running game developing to take the pressure off of the passing. Back to reality for both teams! Good luck to the 'cats. I think your ship has been righted.

Toman had his best game of the season, IMO, but yeesh.
If Toman gets protection and makes the right decisions with the ball he can beat anyone ... it's a matter of the consistency from week-to-week. I'm excited to see how he performs agianst what is likely a better defense next week. The OL was better, though not great, this week. Playcalling definitely improved.

Wren, I agree with your comments. I was glad to see Dontra Peters get most of the carries. I wonder if jellison's turf Turf Toe is still bothering him as he looks very slow and with no explosiveness.

It would seem that Ceech has not yet succeeded in juicing the O, talent , coaching ???? They were ridiculously outclassed. OL was again embarassed. I really thought OL would be a rock for us. Other than Drake, they have been quite bad.
Altho, dbs were torched againxbangx, D hung in there against a much better team.
It would appear that GU is the class of the PL this yearxhurrayx

Time will tell if there is any class in the league this year.
Coen was raving mad after the game with the offense. Very poor execution. The play by play guys on the radio seemed to be describing lackadaisal or not 100% effort by a number of players. Maybe the heat, but they were really tough on the WRs for 'selling' on the runnining plays leading to the LBs and DBs getting that extra step to support the front knowing early the play was not a pass. The bye week couldn't have come at a better time in terms of trying to get some people healed and challenging some people as to where they want to go for the next 7 weeks.
