When longtime I-AA power Montana hired Robin Pflugrad as coach this year, his base salary was reportedly $155,000."


While Mickey has been wooed by FBS programs, it makes sense he is at the 250K range which isn't outragious.

My favorite is the UD fan at the end:
"He hasn't proven to me that he deserves that yet because he's a little too hot and cold. But I'm not belly-aching about it. I'm more upset about the ticket situation." Maybe 35-9 in 3 playoff years and 27-30 in 5 non-playoff years will do that...

Not to come off hash but isn't there a huge difference in cost of living between northern DE (between DC/Balt/Philly markets) and Boone, NC and Missoula, MT? If not then my apologies, but I imagine the market in the areas are helping to dictate the amount.

There's a difference, but there isn't that big a difference.

Moore is probably like Bob Ford in Albany - doesn't ask for nor would he accept a raise if given to him anyway.

Pflugard is just getting ripped off, IMO.

Yes there is a difference but that hasn't stopped Alabama from giving Saban a crazy salary or other rural/poor area teams. To be rich in 'bama all you need is $20 right? (not meant to offend anyone!)

You'd be amazed at the price of real estate in the Boone/Blowing Rock area. Cars, furniture, clothing, and food/restaurants are about even.

Quality hired help costs a bit more in Landenberg, though....

Winning ends up making lots of friends. Tubby was considered very confrontational when he was first starting, but by the end, after 300 career wins, everyone loved him. KC just needs to win more consistently and people will like him plenty.

Considering that UD's president is one of the highest paid CEO's in the country among publicly-sponsored universities, Keeler's salary is not surprise. Tubby was long rumored to be the highest paid employee in the state system.

I obviously have no evidence of this so take if for what its worth but what I've always heard in regard to Coach Moore's salary is that he doesn't take raises and has always deferred the money to his assistant coaches. Could just be one of those "urban myths" but I've heard the story multiple times from different folks.

This is a quick cost of living comparison I ran between Boone and Newark... based on Coach Moore's $180K salary... (from www.bestplaces.net)... Boone is a very costly area due to tourism, real estate, remoteness and other factors. Also, I concur with Apps03... the rumors/facts... Coach Moore is very happy in his situation and the word is he deflects his raises to his staff... Also, I know for a fact he does an extreme amount of charity work/benefit... Anyway, on to the cost of living comparison... neat tool...
