Before Anthony Jones completely turned his attention toward Southern University, he made the peace with last week’s opponent.
Jones, the ninth-year coach at Alabama A&M and the longest-tenured football coach in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, said he had a clear-the-air session with Texas Southern coach Johnnie Cole after the two coaches exchanged words at the end of their game Saturday in Houston.
“We did speak in person after the game, and it’s a done deal as far as I’m concerned,” Jones said.
As reported by the Huntsville Times, minutes after the Tigers finished off their 32-9 victory over A&M, Jones took offense to some of Cole’s actions late in the fourth quarter, when TSU kept throwing the ball with a 23-point lead.
The two coaches had to be separated, according to the Times.
