Two games into the season and the Lumberjack football team is already fighting the injury bug. After the defense was decimated by season-ending injuries last year, several players are hurt after the first two games.
That’s why NAU coach Jerome Souers is grateful for the team having a bye week before beginning its Big Sky Conference games next Saturday at Idaho State. Until then, the Jacks won’t be going full speed quite so much in practice.
“I think it’s a great week for healing up,” Souers said. “That’s why we’re not hitting (each other) very hard.”
