UMass - Michigan Game Thread

Can the Minutemen defense clamp Shoelace (Denard Robinson of Michigan)? Or UMass may be lucky on the other end and expose some holes in the Wolverine defense? Or is Shoelace too much for UMass to handle (as UConn and Notre Dame both did little to stop him)?

It's very unlikely for UMass to pull a JMU here. Shoelace is unstoppable at this point. Michigan by at least 3 touchdowns.

I think Michigan will win. Nobody will sneak up on them again the way we did in 2007. From watching Michigan so far, it seems that they are vulnerable to deep passes. Good luck!

I think Michigan will be ready not only because of the App St game, but with the recent upset JMU scored over Va Tech, it's probably being drilled into their heads that they have to drop the hammer from the get go.

The one thing we've got going for us is that we'll have more film of that QB to review than their first two opponents. We'll focus on making someone else beat us, though no doubt Michigan has other great athletes on offense.

Regardless of their App experience, I have to think Michigan will come out a bit flat after an emotional win at ND. We have enough outside speed to keep Robinson in check for a while and we could make it reasonably competitive for much of the first half, but their depth will wear us down.

It looks like Rich Rod finally has what he wants in Ann Arbor, and Denard Robinson has to be the favorite for the HEISMAN right now. Going to be a tough game for UMASS but all of us FCS guys will be pulling for you.

Anyone who is going to Ann Arbor should have fun as long as they are not expecting too much from the Minutemen on the field. There are an absurb amount of bars in AA and some really awesome restaurants for a college town. AA really is the cultural capital of the state (which is kind of sad), but still, it's a cool place. Students are kind of nerdy though. Enjoy the Big House, one of the great shrines in all of sport.

haha that's funny, they mentioned the same sort of thing today on Around the Horn, I think it is too early to say, the kid has only played 2 college games, but obviously he looks unstoppable. i think fbs teams will be better equiped to adjust to him and will have the athletes to contain him. fcs teams were often able to make the right adjustments against AE but just didnt have the athletes to execute.

I'm just hoping Robinson gets knocked out with a minor injury in the first drive and can't play the rest of the game. I'm not saying a serious injury, just something that will keep him out the rest of the game but leave him ok for the rest of the season.

Agreed, that's just the jackasses who usually played at a big name school looking to save face. Bottom line, 110K people in the stands and the UMass offense was just outplaying the Michigan defense. Man it would have been good to see the wolverines take another L at home to an FCS.
