If anyone could empathize with Houston Nutt on Saturday afternoon, it was his former boss, Jack Crowe.

Incorrect. When Jack Crowe was fired by Frank Broyles one game into the 1992 season, Lou Holtz was the head coach at Notre Dame and had been for the previous six years. Holtz's tenure at Arkansas began in 1977 and ended in 1983, nine years before the Razorbacks were upset by The Citadel. Holtz was succeeded by Ken Hatfield, who brought Crowe in as offensive coordinator in 1989 and bolted for Clemson after Broyles signed a new five-year contract as athletic director. Joe Kines finished the 1992 season as interim head coach and stayed on as defensive coordinator under Danny Ford.
