The Citadel freshman quarterback Matt Thompson (Ormond Beach, Fla.) earned Southern Conference Freshman Player of the Week after an impressive collegiate debut on Saturday in the Bulldogs' 56-14 season-opening victory over the Chowan Hawks at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
