1.we suck at playing conservative.
there was a noticable difference in our play calling after 2 1/2 quarters. why did it take that long to start calling plays that would benefit us? it's ludicrous!

2. cadet needs to hold the ball high and tight

3. the mocs kicker cost them the game

3. the mocs kicker cost them the game

Lot's of things cost the game, like blowing a 21 point lead, turnovers, and not enough depth on defense. It's not right to put this on a kid who hasn't kicked field goals in a few years and was thrown into action this week when the starter got hurt.

Yeah, agree with UCMoc, lots of different things to take away. From a non Southern fan...

1) ASU can gut games out without AE. Say what you will, but not having Armanti at the helm gives you some uncertainty. ASU stepped into that void and found a way to win today.

2) Chatty is for real. OK, it's early, and there is still some learning to do. But the Mocs put on one hell of a game, and while there were some mistakes, it's obvious that the conference isn't just ASU... oh, and maybe Elon, or some years the Citadel, and some other also rans.

3) Time management is no one's strong suit early in the season. From the Thursday games through today, it looked like just about every team I watched made some errors in time management (with the possible exception of JSU). There seemed to be some very weird cadence to the second half of this game, though that may have been because I was reading the boards, listening to a time-delayed broadcase and keeping up with espn's stats.

From the beginning of the game you could tell App State was still good, the question was how good. UTC looked great for most of this game. If they don't put the ball on the ground on back to back drives they probably would win.

That said, I think Appy's experience and coaching put them in the position to force the ball to bounce their way in the 4th Quarter.

i agree, but utc did execute a perfect 2:00 minute drive to nearly pull the upset. i do admire your dedication to trying to "watch" the game without being able to actually watch it....

no excuse to miss extra points. the goal posts are seriously right there.

Which would be fine if the kicker was missing them...the punter was trying to kick them (until last week, he hadn't kicked since high school). If it were easy...anyone on the the team could do it...which is probably why they call them "specialists". Maybe they should have direct snapped to him and let him soccer kick it through the uprights...kinda like Australian Rules. :)
