Pretty big result going down right here hopefully! Nice(potential) bounce back for the CAA after Maine's debacle last night.

Great Football game.
Critical FG miss. Now they will probably have to go for two. Temple might have 2 possessions left but probably not.

'Nova has accumulated over 300 yards while holding Temple to just over 200 Yards.

Temple ball; Owls up 22-21. Temple on their own 16, 3:30 left.

And, holy crap, tempo just completely swung back to Nova. 3rd and 1 at the 25, just needing to move the sticks to run out the clock. Temple fumbles the ball; Nova ball at about the 20, 2:17 to go, Nova down 1.

Temple Challenged the call on the field but the rulling stands.

Nova fizzles a bit on offense but gets what counts - a 41 yard field goal. 24-22 Villanova, but Temple will have the ball, wind at their back, 1:44 to go, 1 TO. Ball on Temple 27.

You can't take a play off and assume they are gonna spike it. Didn't anyone watch Marino vs the Jets?

Does Temple and Nova switch conferences for the year if Nova wins 2 years in a row? Seems only fair...

25-24 Temple over VU.
Very very poor clock management by Villanova cost them the game. That's gotta sting.

Yeah, good call on Temple's part there - got the critical extra yards needed for the field goal. Temple holds on for the win. 25-24.

Final
Temple 25 - Villanova 24
That last Temple TD didn't count because Nova had an illegal forward pass on the return.

This was Temple's first win in the last four games, so they would've switched by now. :)

Why does a play die on the illegal forward pass? If they decline the penalty why wouldn't the play stand? Someone will have to show me that rule before I believe it.

31-24 the new Final per an "urgent update".

You are hopeless. Why would the offense ever get to benefit on an illegal play, regardless of whether the penalty was accepted or declined?

Who are you calling hopeless? ESPN and everyone had the game final 25-24 for a period of time which I knew was wrong.

The game was a lot closer than 31-24. Temple squeaked it out if you asked me. Two good football teams.

There was some confusion for quite awhile afterwards whether the touchdown counted, or not. The scoreboard immediately put it up and then took it off. They were calling around like mad to figure out if the officials had ruled it a touchdown. It wasn't ESPN's, or anyone else's fault.
Go Lehigh TU Owl

Just got home from the game!! What a game it was. After the fumble it seemed like a rerun of last year but this time we were able to finally find a way to pull out a W. Villanova is a very good team because they don't beat themselves. In order you beat them you have to be very disciplined. We were for 57 minutes. The Cats were there to pounce on the one mistake but thankfully we were able to dig down and get the job done in crunch time.
Lehigh will have to play a fantastic game to beat the Cats. We'll have a better idea after tomorrow night. I know a lot of Villanova guys got banged up, with a few injuries looking serious. There's a a good chance Lehigh will be a facing a pretty beat up 'Nova team.
The attendace was 32,193 which is awesome. Last years was about 19k. What makes it even better for Owl fans is the fact that the Villanova student body out numbered the 'Nova fans. 'Nova is lucky if they brought 5k people.
A win next week against a tough CMU team and i believe we can get 40k for UCONN.

What was so confusing about the play? Penalty declined, play stands which ended in a TD. Was embarrassing the announcers didn't know the rule. I understand why the scorekeeper might be hesitant to throw the TD right up because the ref says penalty declined and doesn't say TD, but kind of embarrassing it took that long to figure it out.

Horrible clock management on the drive that put us ahead. I still don't understand why Szczur wasn't lined up at QB for at least one play. But still, a fluke of a TD with that little midget cutting back across the field on a horrible decision by the Temple QB and what looked like the DB stumbling on the long TD bomb. It came down to Temple making the plays when it counted, while we couldn't.
Heck of a game though. I think we found our replacement for Brandyn Harvey in Norman White.

Nova, I feel for you guys. You could have easily won this game, but now it goes down as a loss to the much maligned, oft bottom 10, Owls. To be so close and then lose right at the end.

Temple is a good team , but yes the real culprit was horrid clock management on the Nova drive. Think we saw some of that by the App st coach at the big house too. These coaches have a lot on their plate but they are horrid time managers sometimes.

Nova had the game in the bag and looked like the better team - after the fumble recovery on the 3rd and 1, Nova had about 2:10 on the clock and 1st and 10 from the 25 or so, and than they start trhowing the ball????? after 3 plays the clock is down to 1:50 so they kicked the FG to take the lead...Temple got the ball back with to much time sepecially with that stud FG kicker (if you can use stud and FG in the same sentence)

Didn't say anything about last year alone. They definitely had their best season in 30 years last years. But if you look at them over the years they have consistently been one of the worst teams in college football. However, I did say much maligned and oft bottom 10. In addition, living in the vicinity, I am well acquainted with how pillow soft the MAC East is top to bottom. Over the years:
Temple Owls (not that it matters)
1980 4-7
1981 5-5
1982 4-7
1983 4-7
1984 6-5
1985 4-7
1986 0-11
1987 3-7
1988 4-7
1989 1-10
1990 7-4
1991 2-9
1992 1-10
1993 1-10
1994 2-9
1995 1-10
1996 1-10
1997 3-8
1998 2-9
1999 2-9
2000 4-7
2001 4-7
2002 4-8
2003 1-11
2004 2-9
2005 0-11
2006 1-11
2007 4-8
2008 5-7
2009 9-4
Not exactly what I would call a powerhouse.

To be a little fair, a lot of those years Temple was in the Big East or playing a "Big East type schedule."

The 5PM kick-off was because there was a Phillies night game next door.
