Scott Darby couldn’t be happier with the new offense that the Georgetown University football program is running this season.

The former St. John’s Prep quarterback started the last four games for the Hoyas last season as a sophomore and is now vying for the starting job with sophomore Isaiah Kempf.

New offensive coordinator Dave Patenaude was formerly at Hofstra, but when the football program there was eliminated at the end of last season, Patenaude moved on to join head coach Kevin Kelly’s staff at Georgetown. Because the Hoyas had a lot of problems putting points on the board a year ago, Patenaude has instituted a run-and-shoot offense, with the intention of spreading the ball around and giving the quarterback added responsibilities.
