Very surprised by number...would think that it would be far more staying in dorms and apartments, etc...

Lodging teams on nights before home games is nearly a universal practice.

Of 120 major college football teams, only Arkansas State, Boise State, Fresno State, Louisiana-Monroe, Tulane and Western Kentucky do not stay in hotels before home games, according to Register research.

Kansas, under new coach Turner Gill, will break from tradition and stay in hotels before home games this season.

Doesn't suprise me at all. Furman does the same thing. Allows coaches to keep their players under lock and key and ensure that they are focused on the game and not the shenanigans that come with being a 21 year old college student. Auburn will often send their players out of town to either Montgomery or Columbus, GA the night before, generally a 45 min drive.

So if 114 of 120 FBS teams stay in hotels before home games...how many FCS teams do the same???
