Somebody tell me about Mike Brown and Liberty. Saw him in high school(as a QB at Monticello) and knew he went to Liberty to play DB. Hows he gonna do in the Big South as a QB? Saw he was pre season all conference..........is he for real?

He's a freak athlete. Tough to tackle, very shifty and creative. His passing isn't amazing, but he knows what he's doing under center. We have to see how he responds to teams game planning against him, and how he acts as a "field general"
I think he'll be great, for all the reasons any true dual threat QB is great. You don't know which aspect of his game to focus on, and therefore wind up leaving a lot of holes in the defense to exploit.

One thing is for sure, he will be a thrill to watch no matter what. Personal opinion: I think he will have an amazing year, and I'll bet he will still line up in other areas of the field and well as under center. He does have a good arm too.

Call it co-champions, officially, but had 2009 been an auto-bid year, then Stony Brook goes, not the Flames. Therefore, in the grand scheme of things, the Seawolves are the defending champs. Its been since 2003 since my team had a trophy, true, but I'd have a tough time stomaching the idea of co-champs if I lost head-to-head to the other squad.
Regardless,
this weekend, I would guess:
Wake big over PC
LU big over St. Francis
VMI big over Lock Haven
CSU big over N. Greenville
WVU big over CCU
GWU big over Brevard (read that Marty Patterson is out for the year with an injury, very bad news there.)
USF big over Stony Brook
Shouldn't be many close games in the league this week. Could definitely see both CCU and SBU hanging around for a while in their games, however.
Predicted finish
1. SBU
2. LU
3. CSU
4a. CCU

What is this "illegal formation" that we speak off??

Stony Brook doesn't doesn't play well on the road. Went 2-5 last year. UMass beats them at home and they still lose 3-4 away this year. Liberty is a lock to win as long as Brown stays healthy. Charleston and Coastal battle for 2nd. Stony brook-Lafayette very interesting game.

I wouldn't put Liberty on such a "lock to win" pedestial. There's always one game where they don't show up. See Presby 2008, Chuck South 2009 - no disrespect to CSU, they were better than most give them credit for...but Liberty played poorly for 45 minutes.

Predicted Finish:
1. LU and Stony Brook (LU wins the final game and the playoff bid. Haven't decided who LU will lose to this season IC, though Coastal at the beach this year makes me nervous.)
2. Chuck South
3. Coastal
4. G-Webb
5. VMI
6. Presby
I don't have the heart to put VMI in last place; truth be told, with their new offense, they could wind up surprising everybody and taking the 4 spot.
Week 1 Predictions:
Stony Brook @ USF - USF, but probably not by as much as people think.
Brevard College @ G-W - G-W
Coastal Carolina @ West Virginia - WVU by a LOT
North Greenville @ Chuck South - CSU
Lock Haven @ VMI - VMI
St. Francis @ Liberty - Liberty BIG
Presby @ Wake - Wake by a lot.
First game could be a long one for Coastal and Presby fans.

By the way you are stuck with us another four years. It was announced this afternoon we extended our contract with the Big South through 2015. Which makes me very happy-it is an up and coming conference. Honestly any team could get hot and win the
whole thing. So you all get to visit Long Island many more times!

That's great to hear. I'm very happy to have Stony Brook in the Big South. They should make a great, competitive rival for the next several years (something we've really needed since Coastal isn't so hot anymore). ;)

The defense stood up to WVU and held them to 17 points through 3 quarters. I'd call that "okay"

The defense looked okay against Kent State last year too.
And it was 24 points through the 3rd, right? At least that's what ESPN has. http://espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=302470277
If anything, this WVU game told us nothing about Coastal.

I was impressed with Coastals defense. They just got wore down by a bigger better WVU team. They wont have that problem "as much" in the FCS. I'm pretty worried too about the trip to Coastal. If an IC team beats us this year I think this would be the game just because we're at Coastal. SB doesn't stand a chance at LU this year IMO. Yeah it was close last year but do you remember the last trip they made to Lynchburg?

Dude, it was West Virginia. Halftime score was 10-0, I thought it would have been 31-0 at the half rather than the final score. They did more than okay in my opinion but im a CCU fan so I guess my opinion doesn't count.
