It's certainly possible. Scares me. There are lots of questions about App's QB situation, and Chatty has proven solid season in and season out, with this season shaping up to be a notable one for that squad.
Still, I wouldn't start placing any bets just yet. App has plenty of weapons.

Don't worry, I haven't got the house on it...yet! Seriously, I think the timing is perfect for a Chattanooga upset. We don't have quite as many unknowns going into this one, and though people are saying the team is improved, I don't think anyone really expects them to be that improved.

Richmond's chances at an upset over UVA rest almost entirely on how the O-Line does, IMO. Our defense is just top-notch and will keep us in the game. However, can the O-Line give Corp any sort of protection, and open holes for our RB's?

North Dakota over Idaho. 2 reasons: 1. New offense (no huddle and pistol formation) no one who has played the Sioux has seen this..example of this strategy working 2008 Miami vs New England (Miami introduced the Wildcat and blew out the Pats in Foxboro). 2. NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS!!!! You overlook UND in anticipation of your week 2 game in Lincoln you are bound to get beat. If UND can get the upper hand and fluster Idaho and mess up their mental game UND wins.

The SoCon needs to start winning some of these FBS games.

In the Patriot League - I think Georgetown will beat Davidson. Drake will give Lehigh a good game in Des Moines (and should be highly motivated to take it to a haughty PL team) but Lehigh ought to win this one. Duquesne might have a shot at beating Bucknell if things are really in a shambles for Joe Susan, so I'll call that a possible upset. No possible way Monmouth comes close to Colgate. Fordham at Bryant? I don't know enough about Bryant; same with Howard at Holy Cross, but I can't see the PL champs losing to other than a top 30 team.

Maybe not "season in and season out", but I think they were better than their numbers last season and played us closer than Elon did. They had godawful seasons from 2006-2008, but even in 2007 they were able to hand a loss to a good GA Southern team.

Texas Southern vs. #20-Prairie View
Based on this, some games I think could see an upset are:
#13-Eastern Wash over Nevada (going out on a limb here)
#1-Villanova over Temple
Chattanooga over #3-Appalachian St
#17-Jacksonville St over Ole Miss (depending a lot on how well Masoli takes over the O)
Massachusetts over #4-William & Mary
Monmouth over #22-Colgate
#6-Richmond over Virginia
#7-Elon over Duke
Lots of potential FBS upsets, though in reality I'd be surprised by more than 1
If I had to take one, it'd be UMass
Outside of that, Monmouth and Nooga will give their ranked opponents some trouble, but most likely fall short. I guess that's why they call them...upsets

Explain the logic of this one? no possible way? would love to hear your reasoning.. MU beats Colgate! You heard it hear first.
I would be stunned if Monmouth wins this game. Colgate is going to be better than last year, and I will need Monmouth to show me something on offense, esp. in the running game, before I would go making this crazy prediction. Monmouth, could potentially contend for the conference, or finish bottom 2-3 in the league.
MUHAWKS

Way to go out on a limb there.. could win the NEC or be in bottom 3.. Colgate will not be better than last year. They lose a bunch of lineman and they lose Simonds. MU is very under the radar this yr. The QB is SOLID. They have a 5th yr transfer who played LAX at Penn St. but was an All State WR in HS to go along with some younger cats. Jose Gumbs is a stud and will play in the NFL. It is the best d-backfield they have had as a unit ever. They may not have "Sinisi" but they will be the consumate "team"... Its game # 1. Penn lsot to Nova 7-0 last yr in game # 1. Nova won the whole thing. Bottom line is anything can happen week 1 and this is not like saying Monmouth is gonna upset delaware or Montana. This is Colgate. Patriot League. They won't out tough MU and they will not even have the bext player on the field who is # 28 Jose Gumbs. Colgate is very good. The QB is very good. Monmouth is going to win. I like Dane above predic of Albany sticking it to maine as well. People sleeping on the NEC will be sorry.
