Giants Sign Dominic Randolph...again!

After Manning was banged up against the Jets, and Jim Sorgi is headed for an MRI on his ailing shoulder, Dominic Randolph was signed to a one year deal with the Giants. I wonder if this has ever happened before: the same NFL team has signed, cut, and then signed again a player in the same offseason.

I imagine it's happened before. Randolph was mostly a warm body for offseason workouts. He fits the profile of a guy who clearly looked decent enough to get the call back in this emergency situation. Someone the coaches have seen before and won't be learning the playbook from scratch

Good luck to him, though. If he plays well, he might find a spot on someone else's roster. Or a practice squad. Or the Giants' 3rd string (if Sorgi's injury turns out to be serious)
