I watched the Best of UFC 2005 last night ot bits and pieces of it. First time I had watched it for more than 5 minutes ever. Pretty entertaining except when they start to bleed, makes my stomach curl.

Rickson Gracie would destroy all of them, three at a time. UFC is tough, but theres much better fighting out there.

But why can't they land the best of the best? I'm too lazy to order DVDs, I'd be nice to see some of the stuff outta Japan on TV every once in a while. For me, the UFC would be a helluva lot more appealing if the winner were essentially the undisputed biggest badass on the face of the planet, which, currently, he is nowhere near. You've got guys make it to UFC who've been fighting for like six months or two years, guys that just use strength.
...and I'm not saying the UFC sucks, but it could definitely be a lot more appealing to me.

like what?
The way I see it, the UFC champ is officially the world's biggest bad ass. Of course it is not the same as a no holds barred fight on the street but it is the best we can do in a civilized society. I don't believe that there is some master martial arts guy sitting back and scoffing at these UFC guys because he knows he could beat them. I would just like to know of one other fighting contest that has even close to the payout of UFC (other than boxing which is not even close to real fighting). The money will draw the world's best talent. You see these martial artists who have been training all of their lives try the UFC and get their asses whooped all over the octagon.
I know the Gracies are a great family of bad asses but they have only mastered brazilian jujitsu, they are not as well rounded as a lot of these UFC guys.
Also, ASU Kep made the point that guys make the UFC after only training for 6 months, who did that? I remember the former football player in the reality show had been training for 1 year but he lost.
the fact that nobody has just come out of the blue to dominate the UFC shows me that it is legit.
I think UFC will be boxing's downfall.

What about Bob Sapp? He is/was one badass mother f***er!!!!
And the Iceman?
I dunno about that Japanese stuff, I've seen some of it but there are not as many hard shots with power behind them. Maybe that's just me.
