From an article about NDSU turning down playing Minnesota in both 2006 and 2007. Isn't someone from the SWAC looking at playing Minnesota? I bet they are hoping the NCAA opens up that 12th game...
----------
The Gophers have open dates for Sept. 2, Sept. 9 and Oct. 21. NDSU has Oct. 21 open.

“The date is a challenge for them,” Taylor said.

“They want to play a I-AA team and it’s a matter of which ones will draw anything and be attractive to them as a fan base. I don’t think they’re finding much.”

NDSU is getting a $275,000 guarantee for the 2007 game. Taylor said the offer for 2006 is about the same.

There had been word that MSU would be playing Minnesota in '07 as well. I haven't heard anything in a while, but does anyone else know anything?

Minn. was interested in playing ICON/Grambling and well as Pitt. in the 2006 season. I sure the payout has something to do with closeness of the school, but if they are only offering 275,000 we will never play them.

I don't know how much they're offering I-AA schools, but it was rumored they didn't want to play Northern Iowa on their schedule. My guess is they are not looking for a I-AA school, they are looking for a I-AA they believe they can beat handily. Sad, but true.
