Big news out of Conway. UCA is going to take Clint Conque along with them for the wild ride that is transitioning from Div II to I-AA football. Congrats to Hardin and company for showing commitment to the process and awarding one helluva coach...
Clint Conque signed a five-year contract to continue as Central Arkansas’ head football coach through the 2010 season, Central Arkansas President Lu Hardin and Athletic Director Vance Strange said Thursday.
Conque has coached Central Arkansas’ football team to a 44-25 record in six seasons. His 2005 team finished 11-3 with an overtime loss to North Alabama in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Central Arkansas won the 2005 Gulf South Conference championship. It will leave the Gulf South in June to move to the NCAA Division I-AA Southland Conference.
“Conque and the 2005 football team had an outstanding season,” Hardin said. “In addition to that, his overall winning percentage [. 652 ] is very good. The next three or four years will be a transitional period, so the five-year contract was a logical move to keep stability through that period.”
