No new info. ngineer. Blair is loaded as always. Will Alex Meade be wrestling for Easton? You have picked up a real talent there. As stated earlier, I can PM you the whole story if you are interested.

Sidney always used to wrestle in (and often win)the Bismarck ND Rotary tournament after New Years back when I wrestled. It was a huge tourney with most of the top teams from ND/SD and some from MT.

Iowa St has a starter from Blair (Backes) who I think is ranked top 5 at 184

Lehigh's only national champion during the 1990's was a Montanian named Matt Ruppel. Won the NCAA in 1990 at 190 lbs. He was a tough stud.

Montanan (no i), but nice to hear. I was told once, just from a guy in the Air Force who wrestled in HS, that Montana is frequently looked at by the big wrestling colleges and universities because they produce a lot of good HS wrestlers. Kind of a Northwest, Midwest thing, from what he said (he followed it religiously, kind of how we follow I-AA football). I'm not sure how accurate that is, but I like to believe it. :) :)

:o --sorry--I think it was the first time I ever thought of how a Montanan is referred to..
Yes, the upper midwest and northwest had been a hotbed for years--unfortunately the sport has declined at the college level--don't even think Washington and Wash. St. still have--yet one of the greatest, if not THE greatest upset came from a Washingtonian--Larry Owings, when he beat Dan Gable in the NCAA finals and Gable's last match.
Due to $ and distance, we don't directly recruit out that way. The wrestlers we do get are due to interest by them because of reputation and academic interest or due to family/friend connections.

Sidney (MT) is a very good team. They don't even wrestle in the highest classification in Montana (they are class A). It is a small town in the eastern part of the state. Montana has some really good highschool wrestling. It will be interesting to see how they do.

I don't know how Butte is anymore, but back in the day, they won something like 13 straight state championships, and were unbeatable. I think Billings Skyview has been good in recent years. Good luck Sidney.

Matt threw me around freshman year in a Judo class. Matt was in the 190's and I was barely 130. The instructor said I learned to fall quickly. :)

When I saw the article in the paper the other day, I read it to mean THIS coming weekend--it's next weekend in our gym.
However, some interesting HS scores this weekend--Blair clobbered St. Eds of Ohio, 37-18 at a tourney at ESU.
In the Virginia Duals, one of our local Lehigh Valley powers, Nazareth suffered their first loss of the year to Great Bridge (Va.), 33-18, but came back to get third place overall defeating St. Mark's (DE) 46-9. To show you how good that makes Great Bridge, Kingsway (NJ) beat a decent Liberty (Bethlehem, Pa) team 32-27 and Whitehall (Pa.),33-28. Nazareth knocked off Kingsway, 68-0!!(and there were only two close bouts).
