Vann is already out of San Fransisco...too explosive of a player to have not get a really good chance at making a squad...
SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers waived undrafted rookie LeRoy Vann , who set an NCAA record with 11 combined career touchdown returns, a league source told Comcast SportsNet on Monday.
Vann set the NCAA record with 11 combined touchdown returns during his career at Florida A&M. He signed with the 49ers after the draft and was competing for a job as the team's punt returner.
Vann struggled with his consistency catching punts during the team's offseason program, but he remained at the 49ers' practice facility and worked out daily in the month leading up to training camp.
He appeared to look much more comfortable handling punts through the first week of training camp, making it a surprise when the club decided to part ways with him before he had a chance to even play in an exhibition game. The 49ers open the preseason Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
