Featuring Holy Cross, Lafayette, and Colgate. Probably not much earth-shattering stuff, especially if you read Reinhart's columns, but they're a good place to read all the developing storylines in one place.

So Pards: There's a "battle" for the starting QB position, yet Quilling goes to media day? I find it hard to believe that he won't be the starter now.

Uncle Frank says it's O'Neil.

"Ryan O'Neil is gonna be our guy" (at 2:51 in the video):

O'Neill was out of town from what I heard.

QB competition also appears to be wide open amongst the Mountain Hawks.

Reinhart does seem to go out of his way in his MC article to point out that Quilling was there at Lafayette, and O'Neil wasn't.

The guy who is listed No. 1 on the Lafayette College football depth chart at quarterback has spent most of the summer at his White Plains, N.Y., home while about 40 of his buddies have elected to stay in the Easton area to get an early jump on preparations for the 2010 campaign.

The absence of junior Ryan O'Neil has allowed his two pursuers, senior Marc Quilling of Parkland and sophomore Andrew Shoop, to establish a good rapport with their teammates — workouts as early as 5 in the morning will tend to do that — as Lafayette prepares for a preseason camp during which solidifying the quarterback position will be a high priority.

Just sayin'. While scholarships seemed to rule the day, to me this is a very intriguing storyline. It's real odd to have a guy who doesn't have the job show up at media day to represent the team.

This is different from Lehigh, where Rackley was named team captain and J.B. Clark, Lum and Colvin weren't at media day - a very clear message, to me, that Clark the senior is going to have to fight real hard for his job.

It will be interesting to see which approach does better.

On the video, Tavani clearly states that O'Neil is "our guy" and that Quilling is in a "backup role." Cold this be just to light a fire under Quilling?

I wonder about that. It's interesting to see the two different approaches Tavani and Coen are taking to motivate their QBs - it seems like they may have the same issue, needing to get their senior QBs to perform at their best.

The just-released Lafayette (http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/lafa/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/2010_FBmediaguide_LR.pdf) Media Guide has O'Neil listed as starting QB.

Georgetown (http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/gu/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/2010_Preseason_Prospectus.pdf) has released a "preseason prospectus" as well. It looks as if the Hoyas will, in fact, be fielding a team this season after all.

Kevin Kelly: “We’re confident that we can guide the Hoya program to the top of the Patriot League.” Your fellow coaches and the league SIDs don't quite seem to share that confidence, Kev. Shame.

Some bad news as well. Best options at RB (Charlie Houghton) and WR (Dishon Hughes, Brandon Floyd) not returning. 40 percent of the team (33/84) freshmen. But 6 of the 33 are kickers...

He was scheduled to be eligible for a medical redshirt (didn't play as a sophomore).

Of the six kickers, five are freshmen and one is a junior who played lacrosse. Both kickers (walk-ons) graduated in the spring.
