So, is Houston going to ask for Gary Kubiak or Jerry Gray now that the NOLA City Council is busy asking for the Saints to hire Doug Williams?

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans City Council on Monday unanimously passed a resolution calling on the Saints to hire Doug Williams as the team's new coach.

The resolution urges both Saints owner Tom Benson and general manager Mickey Loomis to give "strong consideration to naming Louisiana's own Doug Williams as the Saints head coach or as a high level administrator within the Saints organization."

"Benson never called me," Williams, a pro personnel executive for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, laughed. "Loomis never called me, either."

The resolution said that Williams, who grew up in Zachary, La., had coached both high school and college levels, including at Grambling State, and had a stellar career in the NFL, which more than qualified him for the Saints job.

Man... this shows two things: 1.the government this past year and this one so far is loving to put their two sense into sports (steriods) and 2. it also shows how bad the Saints are and the city council is embarrassed.

More embarrassment for New Orleans. I would think that their city council would have bigger issues to deal with than who's coaching the Saints. WTF?

And Williams as a head coach? That's a huge risk as I see it. Granted he was great at Grambling, he doesn't have so much experience in the professional environment that you'd think you'd see out of a potential HC. Is the Saints job really something that would be a good idea for a novice?

Well, considering how much cities are expected to subsidize sports franchises, I can kind of see how they might feel how they should have some say in how they are run.

Personally, I think every single dollar the government (whether city or state) gives to pro sports is wasted.
