since my old one got deleted, here's a new one

anyone wanna tell me that the Hurricanes are not for real now?

12 point lead in the division, with 3 games in hand

and 3rd in the Eastern Conference(4th in the NHL) with 58 points

how bout these writers stop sucking the Sens and Wings d1cks and give the Canes credit where credit is due

even the year we went to the Finals we did not have this type of talent and chemistry

big week coming up though, Detroit, Nashville, St. Louis at home, then on the road to your boys(Philly)- i'll be happy with 2 out of those 4

not to mention the balance we have, Staal has 1 goal and 2 assists in the last 7 games and we've gone 4-1-2, if he kicks this slump, look out!

Good God, AppGuy you will be 2-0 on major championships here! Can I now get you to root for the Eagles?? Fave major sports in order: football, roundball, baseball & hockey. Football far & away of course! Interesting to note, even though Flyers are having very good year, there really isnt too much fan interest other than the regular hockey crowd. Even with the Eagles out of it, the sports talk shows here are all about Eagles draft, trade, etc. Sixers, and what the other NFL teams are doing (lot of cheering here when Giants went down, more cheering when Skins bow out). I think that strike really zulued the moderate to light fan. BTW, I am very good friends with Jay Feaster!

I really lost touch with the Flyers over the past couple years.I was an 'old time' passionate fan from the late 1960's. However, I can say that the interest is starting to slowly return. They're playng hard and that's what endears any Philly team with the fans. If they keep it up, they'll gradually return, but it will take time.

I'm having a rough time with the Islanders over the past few weeks. They've lost something like 8 of their last 9 and appear to be nothing short of free-falling. Watching them toil through games is disheartening and seeing 1 and 2 goal leads blown almost routinely is sad. I wasn't expecting them to win the East or anything, but making the Playoffs again would have been nice. :(

Watched the begining of it, and was surprised the Red Wings didn't put up much of a fight at the beginning. Thought this game for a goner for them (3-0 I believe).

I saw the coach call a rare time-out in the 1st period to get his team focused.

I then watched the Rangers beat Calgary 4-2 in a playoff type game (after falling behind 2-0 in the 1st period), and then was surprised to see the crawler listing the game as 3-2. John Davidson commented that it must of been a great game the way the Red Wings came back.

Helluva move by the coach!

Thrashers are mired in a huge downward skid. Look for them to rebound against the Panthers in this weekend's home-and-home series. Prediction: Kovalchuk will get called again for an illegal stick in the third period of one of these games. You ask, "How could anyone be that stupid?" Just wait. I look for Hossa to carry the load for the Thrashers in these two games.

Yup, blasted all over the New York area papers. Rangers still have to prove themselves in the playoffs so I am not that worried right now. They have too many unknown variables... i.e. playoff goaltending. Devils have been extremely hot this year. Disgard that 4-2 Toronto loss, Leafs scored three quick ones after the Devils arrived in Toronto late after the plane nearly went off the runway in NJ. So jitters took hold in that one early.

I am just not happy about Broduer playing for Team Canada. Hope Quinn sits him.

I know that Dominic Moore, class of '03, is in the Rangers system. He was an excellent college center with great speed and a good sense for the net. His older brother, Steve (who also played at Harvard), was the Avs player that got sucker-punched by Todd Bertuzzi.

I think Gerber proved himself in the Olympics by shutting out the Canadians, IMO

Records vs Eastern Conference teams:
Ottawa 32-12-2
Carolina 32-12-3
Philly 28-13-7
NJ 24-20-4

I don't see that Carolina is any weaker than any of these teams.

Great drama at the end of last night's Thrashers vs. Rangers game. Jagr gets called for an illegal stick in overtime. No one scores. The game proceeds to the shootout. Jagr gets called for another illegal stick and is not allowed to participate in the shootout. Rangers look real good at the outset of the shootout as Thrasher netminder Kari Lehtonen gets schooled. Lehtonen then buckles down and the Thrashers net their third attempt sending the shootout into extra innings. Lehtonen once again makes a big save. And then Marian Hossa, cool as the other side of the pillow, sends a wrister over Lundquist's left shoulder. :hurray:

HUGE, GIANT, COLOSSAL win last night for the Flyers. They've really been struggling since just before the break and hadn't beaten the Rangers in regulation this year. Last night brought them back into a tie for first in the division. HOWEVER, the bigger problem is that if they finish second in the division they'll probably get the Sabres in the playoffs, who have owned the Flyers in the playoffs. If they win the division, they'll probably get the Lightning who have owned the Flyers in the playoffs AND regular season. :bawling:
