Sources: Texas Southern Adds Troy Quarterback

HOUSTON - College Sporting News learned Wednesday night that Troy quarterback Dantavious Parker will transfer to the program with two years of eligibility remaining. The Dothan Eagle broke the story early Wednesday.

3rd Coast - is Arvell Nelson back this year for his senior season? Or does this guy from Troy have a chance to push him for the starting job?

Seems the Troy transfer is good on his feet. Perhaps Cole will have some fun play-making ahead of him, since he can probably utilize both on the field at the same time. Maybe do some Wildcat formations?

High praise from Troy...they liked him a lot and he just had too many bodies for the starting position. Article mentions he chose TSU over FAMU. What QB situation did they have in Tallahassee?


“I met with him and talked to his mama more than once or twice about this,” Blakeney said. “We talked about his education and what he means to this team as a leader and a player, but he couldn’t get past the chance of wanting to be a starting quarterback. Texas Southern and coach (Johnnie) Cole told him he had a good chance to compete to be a starter.

“We couldn’t guarantee him that he had that chance, but I’ll say this. He is a special kid and I hate to lose him.”

If not for 2010, you better be sure you make it in 2012 when we're in the inaugural season of Tiger Stadium.
