NHL: Tippett wins Jack Adams Award (http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/166437/group/Sports/)
Tippett ran away with the honor. The first-year Phoenix Coyotes coach received 57 of 59 first-place votes. He’s the first former Sioux player to win such an award.
UND joins Maine as the only colleges in the country to produce both an NHL and NBA coach of the year.
Tippett unexpectedly led the Coyotes to their best season in franchise history. The bankrupt team, owned by the NHL, was expected to be one of the worst teams in the Western Conference. Instead, the Coyotes finished fourth and earned a playoff spot.
