For only the third time in NHL history a team down 3-0 in a seven game playoff series has come back to win. Moreover, the Flyers were down 3-0 in the first period of game 7! I must admit, I had written this team off in the regular season with their horribly erratic play. But their resiliency during this stretch has been worthy of respect. Now, after entering the playoffs as the 7th seed in the Conference, they will have home ice advantage in the Finals against Canadiens, who have also shocked the hockey world with upsets of Washington and Pittsburgh and are the 8th seed. I pick the Flyers in 5 or 6 games. They are more balanced than either Washington or Pittsburgh who had major stars get shut down. Flyers may also get Carter back sometime during the series giving them more weapons. Flyers could be Philly's "stealth" champion this year with a surprise parade down Broad Street come June.

You may be right in your prediction of the series against Montreal; however, San Jose and Chicago are both much better teams and have been consistent since the beginning of the season...I hope the beat Montreal though...I hate that city and their dumb fans.

But, I can't really root for Philly either because they are Philly...so Philly in 7!

Philly or Montreal advancing to the Finals seemed crazy as recently as a week ago

Interesting note, 4 times since 1994 has a 7 or 8 seed advanced to the SCF in the NHL. All 4 of them lost, though in at least 6 games (1994 Vancouver, 1999 Buffalo, 2003 Anaheim, 2006 Edmonton)

In other words, expect a good Finals, but ultimately the Cup goes to San Jose or Chicago (Go Sharks :))

Absolutely loved the USA chants (even though there's 4 Americans and 14 Canadians on the Flyers) and the Ole's.

There must have been a trampoline at the bottom of that hole, 'cause the Flyers have rebounded amazingly over the last three games in dominating fashion. Though still early, a Blackhawks/Flyers Cup Finals would be great.
