With the NC game in Jan, not sure how this would be possilbe. It would certainly be interesting and probably a good pay day. Although, the FCS Champ could not afford a bad loss. That team would need to stay within 10 to keep it going.

1. The NCAA Football Issues Committee approved 35 bowls for next year, which means 70 teams must finish 6-6 or better to qualify. If not, a 5-7 team will play in a bowl game. Committee chair Nick Carparelli of the Big East, looking for an alternative, considered inviting the FCS champion to play in an FBS bowl. But by the time the FCS playoffs finish, the winner wouldn’t have time to sell tickets and prepare for the bowl. FYI, history says there will be enough 6-6 teams for the bowls.

No FBS team would want to go to a bowl game that includes an FCS team. Their fans would be pissed, especially if they lose to an FCS team. There are way too many bowl games. It should be teams that finish above 9-3 go to a bowl game, but that would be the end of bowl games b/c all the other schools would be mad.

A few years ago ther was an article in the Missoulian about the NCAA approaching the Big Sky conference for a possible team if there were not enough FBS teams with better than .500 records. This was a while back but I will try to see if I can find an old link to the article on their website.

Ok, I found the article written in 2008 about this topic. As I recall this was one part of a multiple part series about the feasibility of Montana moving up, so part way through the article starts to talk about that.

I thought only 1 win versus an FCS could count towards Bowl eligibilty anyways.

Screw the bowl boys. We got our thing, and it is actually recognized by the NCAA.

OUR THING sucks. 20 playoff teams? You only have so many legit teams that can be those 20 teams in the FCS. Moving the national championship game to Frisco, Texas? Come on. NCAA has no clue. They should have given up on football years ago when they lost that big court case to the BCS.
This new FBS alignment will probably have the FBS schools go out of the NCAA soon. They want to do their own interpretation of Title IX and things entirely their own way.
