Not sure how much attention this story is getting, but is weird.

This former prep player is back in prep basketball under a new alias and apparently at the age of 22. Caught red-handed by his former coaches when playing in a tournament.

I just don't see the point, unless you think this is going to work well enough for you to get a major college scholarship. But, even then - we're talking about you being in the limelight and eventually being caught anyway, right?

Three years ago, Guerdwich Montimere helped lead Dillard to a berth in the boys' state basketball tournament.

Today, some of Montimere's former coaches believe the 2007 graduate has resurfaced — as Jerry Joseph, a high school sophomore playing basketball in Odessa, Texas.

"I'm 100 percent sure," Boyd Anderson assistant coach Cedric Smith said. "I would bet my paycheck."

How does a 22-year-old pose as a pre-pubescent sophomore anyway? Did he find the Fountain of Youth?

Didn't this happen in a Drew Berrymore movie?

Didn't this happen in a Drew Berrymore movie?

Sure did - 'Never Been Kissed'.

She went undercover as a HS student for a newspaper piece while her brother liked the idea, joined her and was a top baseball player.

BUSTED...

ODESSA, Texas — Police say a West Texas high school student who starred for the school's basketball team this season turns out to be a 22-year-old naturalized citizen from Haiti.

The Odessa American reports Guerdwich Montimere (GUR'-wihch MAHN'-tih-meer) has been charged with presenting false identification to a peace officer. That's after police confronted him about his identity.

And now he's got some likely sexual assault charges because he had a 15-year old girl that he apparently had relationships with...

What's even more remarkable is that even as more details of his deception come pouring out, and even as Montimere sits behind bars on a second-degree felony sexual assault charge because of an improper relationship he is alleged to have had with a 15-year-old girl last summer, he still has his supporters, even in a town littered with rattlesnake warning signs.

"He's a good guy," said basketball teammate Tevan Loud, who stands to have his senior season forfeited because of Montimere's deception. "He just had a dream, I feel like, and really just wanted to achieve that dream and got caught."

There are others who support Montimere, despite the sexual assault charge that sits on top of the false identification charges that saw him arrested three times in the span of four days.

The story that will not die, he's now been indicted...

An Ector County, Texas grand jury indicted Guerdwich Montimere, a 22-year-old man accused of posing as a high school student and basketball star in West Texas, on five felony counts on Monday.

The grand jury returned two indictments against Montimere. The first contained two counts of sexual assault of a child.

Montimere was arrested on May 14 after a 16-year-old girl in Odessa told police and school district officials she had sex with him at a home in August when she thought he was 15-year-old Jerry Joseph.

The second indictment contained two counts of tampering with governmental records and one count of fraudulent use of identifying information.
