Read in the paper today that the NCAA is giving serious consideration to 5 year eligibility. No more red-shirt, injury waiver etc. Think this will go, or do they consider it every year?

No way this should happen. If a guy red-shirts to a year to develop physically and learn the system that is one thing. Having guys hang around for 5 years and take up space isn't very productive....it'd be taking opportunities away from younger players if super seniors were hanging around.

Agree. Grey-shirting kind of does this already if they enroll early. Too much potential for abuse here.

I think that this would be great for 1AA programs. Right now you waste scholarships on guys who are redshirting their first year. I think that at most school kids stay 5 years anyway since it's so tough to play football and graduate in 4 years at many schools. Why not have those guys playing their first year as well?
