A column from an AJC sportswriter, includes quotes that hint new NCAA president Emmert may be pro FBS playoff.

If they finally do create a playoff system in FBS with a similar financial arrangement as the NCAA basketball tournament...does that spell the end for the FBS/FCS distinction? Could we see entire conferences "move up" together (CAA?)?
What would be the impact of FBS playoffs on FCS?

If FBS gets playoffs, I'm sure they''ll be keeping the money for themselves, and they'll try even harder to keep everyone else out of the party.

Here's how a FBS playoff gets done: invite 8 FBS teams to a single elimination tournament, paying each of the 8 teams $10 million in the first round, the 2nd round teams will each get $20 million and both teams that make it to the championship game get $40 million.
You sign up as many big time, corporate sponsors as you can get and sign a huge TV deal in order to finance the tournament.

They already do. The SEC championship is an NCAA semifinal.

I love all college football, especially FCS because it's the highest level you can compete at and still have the excitement of the playoffs. If FBS went to a playoff format, it would be phenomenal and i probably wouldn't leave the couch.

We already know that as a conference the CAA can beat 99% of all FBS teams.
