New BCS coordinator open to changes, but not playoff
Associated Press

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- The new Bowl Championship Series coordinator is open to changes in college football's postseason. That doesn't mean fans should expect anything like a playoff anytime soon.

Southeastern Conference commissioner Mike Slive is taking over for Kevin Weiberg of the Big 12. Next season, the BCS will play five games, with the final one being designated the national championship game.

I'm pretty sure most football fans in America would LOVE the chance to have an undisputed I-A football champ, but the reality is that these schools don't want to lose the $$ they get for bowl appearances, whether it be Rose Bowl or the Toilet Bowl. Maybe some type of hybrid system would be best.....BCS picks 16 teams to form a playoff field, and allow other schools to participate in a bowl game.....sort of like the NIT for basketball. In all actuality, the additional games would result in more overall TV appearances which equals more revenue for schools, NCAA, and yes, TV networks and sponsors.
