WCU holds first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday; wraps up second week of drills
Cullowhee, N.C. - The Western Carolina football team held its first spring scrimmage session as a part of Saturday's two-hour practice on the turf at E.J. Whitmire Stadium / Bob Waters Field on-campus. The 67-play controlled scrimmage was held midway through Saturday's workout which lasted right at two hours beginning mid-morning.
WCU quarterbacks Zack Jaynes and Casey Turner each tossed a touchdown pass during the session with Jaynes connecting with Brandon Stamey on a 30-yard strike while Turner found Jacoby Mitchell from 15 yards out to close the scrimmage. Turner finished 7-for-12 (58%) passing while Jaynes completed 7-of-11 (64%) with one interception.
