Montana seems to be the best fit for Patrick Stoudamire, cousin of Damon Stoudamire and Chris Mims. He has offers from Air Force and Portland State with an offer from Montana eminent.

Stoudamire Bio (http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=1869746)

This story is from OregonPreps.com (http://www.oregonpreps.com)

Patrick Stoudamire is sitting on two offers
Patrick Stoudamire made plenty of highlights this season on both sides of the ball, and the shifty 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete from Centennial High School in Gresham was rewarded for his play by being named First Team All-State as a defensive back. He's now hoping that will lead to the right opportunity for him to play at the college level. He's looking hard at three schools, two of which have offered, and one who could be close to giving him the chance at playing both football and hoops.

"I'm looking at Montana, Air Force, and Portland State right now," Stoudamire said. "I'm going on official visits to all of them sometime in January. I'm looking at playing time mostly and I won't be making a decision until after basketball season is over."

Stoudamire has offers from Air Force and Portland State, and while Montana hasn't offered yet, they are seriously looking at him and are doing so for football and basketball. The chance at playing two sports was music to Stoudamire's ears and because of that fact, he considers the Grizzlies his leader.

"It's a big factor," Stoudamire said. "Also, they said that they have one DB spot and they're recruiting three guys for it, but they are also looking at me on offense. So they might move me around."

Stoudamire does have his concerns about both Air Force and Portland State, but does want to take official visits to each to fully see what they're all about. In the meantime, his concentration has fully shifted over to the basketball floor where he's emerged as one of Centennial's top offensive threats.

"It's going pretty good - I had 29 points last Friday," Stoudamire said. "We should finish either first or second in the league."

Stay tuned to OregonPreps.com for the latest on Stoudamire and the rest of the Class of 2006.

If he was that great, wouldn't he have more offers?

How many 3 stars will your school land that has a I-A offer? He's ranked the 65th best in the nation at his position, that's good enough for me. We're having another monster recruiting year. Getting 6 out of 8 of the top Montana kids, 2 Pac 10 starters at offensive skill positions, and the fastest player from the Louisville team. We have two 3 stars that have us high on their lists. Hey it's off season, time to crow about your recruiting class. :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:

There are 14-15 Montana kids at I-A schools.

There are high schools who have more I-A kids than that. I did a quick check and found 6 right now from my high school on 4 I-A rosters and we were not a football factory by any means.

And Oregon's actual starter for the game was Dennis Dixon, from my rival high school San Leandro, who probably has more players than that on I-A rosters now.

-UCD's first two verbals this year were from 3 star players with I-A offers including the #36 QB per Rivals and also the top running back in the Bay Area per Gregg Biggins (Rivals). And Davis is evidently just a pathetic little program.

-Don't refer to Swogger as a starter. If he was starting he wouldn't be leaving. The term is "former starter".

-List the D1 kids that came out of Montana last year. If you are talking about I-A, I bet it's below 10 but I am too lazy to look up.

Does this guy have any offers for basketball? If he has a huge senior season that may come into play for other schools.

If I remember right, no Montanans went I-A last year. I have to admit that highschool football in Montana is not that hot, and I played there. I'm pretty sure Tulsa Union HS is sending more players to I-A this year than the whole state of Montana will send.

I don't know where you played but it couldn't have been in Helena.....I played for Helena Capital and football was and still is the biggest thing in town

Montana football is hot but when you only have 900,000 people in your state the overall number of students is very low so we don't have that many, in number, kids play D-I college ball.

Contra Costa county in the east bay has 900,000 people and I count 21 players just on the Cal and Oregon rosters from CC county

Ronbo

That county has the #1 HS program in the nation. Kids come from all over Cali to play there. CC County is very high on the big boys recruiting radar. In Montana we are way off the radar and the kids only get recruited by the Montana schools and a few WAC and MWC schools. That actually helps us get players that would not be available to us if we were say in Sacto. where the kids are high on the radar of Cal, Stanford, Fresno, and several other Pac 10 schools.

3 stars are great. UC Davis just got two: Joe Trombetta RB, and Greg Denham QB. (although Denham was dropped to 2 star after he commited to the Aggies...very fishy)

Montana getting a 3 star should not be that big a deal with long time success of the program.

Go look at the three star guys at Scout.com. Almost none of them even have a I-AA on their interest list. We have landed a 2 star that is the 73rd best TE in the country and he's a 2 star. There are 120 I-A schools to go against for these kids.

SochorField
January 5th, 2006, 08:52 PM
Look at the list of schools itself. There arent any I-AA teams in their database.

Ronbo

Yeah how about this. Also if you go to players by position, each one has the schools that are interested in them.

Im not arguing with you.

Its just weird that Montana is mentioned, where UC Davis isnt. Trombetta and Denham have committed, but there is no mention of it, we are after some listed players, but "UC Davis" is not mentioned.

search for joe trombetta and greg denham

I'm looking at Scout.com's 3 stars and they are almost 100% commiting to I-A.

Look at these I-A recruiting lists. Interesting.

Trombetta had a scout article from when Boise offered. Not sure what others offered (pac-10s were definitely interested), but he had a Boise offer on the table for 3 months before picking Davis

Scout doesn't do the greatest job keeping up with the offers. Rivals is much better in that department, especially out West. I recall several Griz commits over the past couple years having listed I-A offers (not counting Idaho). To illustrate how crazy scout is, last year UCD's top QB recruit was not listed in the system. However another qb that ended up walking-on received two stars. Scout refuses to list UCD for some reason but here are some notable Davis signings from the past two years that for some reason remain undecided:

Brandon Brown - Initial UW commit (http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=1068429)

Brad Bispo 3 Star TE (http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=1283320)

Brandon Rice, offers from Stanford, ASU, WAZZU, Boise, etc (http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=1124899)

Greg Denham, a three star prior to Davis commit (http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=1914592)

this may very well be the dumbest thread on here

are you jokesters REALLY arguing about recruit rankings? 3 stars??? who cares.... I am no expert, but I bet the are more 3 stars this year than in any past year.... want to know why? because people pay for these services so that they CAN HAVE THE EXACT ARGUMENT that is occuring right now. There is no science to the rankings, only a bottom line......and that bottom line is subscriptions.

Well there must be something to the rankings as I-A's certainly do offer these three star kids so they must be pretty good.

I can name about 10 kids that JMU signed last year that scout, rivals, etc....listed as I-A recruits with I-A offers.

take it worth a grain of salt.....not one of these recruiting services is actually looking at the actual scholarship offers. You have coaches claiming offers, family members, and the list goes on. They deal in hear-say. You would be VERY surprised to see what MAJOR I-A offers are real.....I-AA often beats MAC, CUSA, MWC etc for recruits, but almost NEVER for BCS level recruits

please keep that in mind, and stop this bickering

JMU listed 23 recruits in their '05 class. Only one, Trae Kenney, was listed on scout to have a I-A offer (Cinci).

Blah, blah, blah.

I find recruiting the most interesting subject in the off season and I'll bet many do. What would you rather talk about?

OC resigns - hmmm who cares
DC leaves - hmmm who cares
Who has the best stadium, uniforms, helmets, coach, conference? Been done to death.
JMU to get stadium expansion. OK that's interesting.

I agree... recruits/recruiting is far more interesting than most other off season topics.

On that note... UD just received a verbal from a good looking DB prospect out of PA. Anthony Walters was a 2d team Pennsylvania All-Stater and Co- MVP in the Philly Catholic League.
