Texas has the #1 scoring offense (51 ppg), USC is #2 (50ppg)

USC is the #1 total offense (580 ypg) while Texas is #3 (508 ypg).

But what kinds of defenses has each played against. I'm going to put the rankings of the defenses of BCS league teams each has played in a color format. The rankings of the defenses of Texas BCS league opponents will be in orange while those of the USC BCS league opponents will be red:

6, 12, 14, 30, 34, 42, 45, 47, 50, 63, 75, 86, 94, 95, 105, 106,107, 113, 114

On the surface, it appears as though Texas' offense has seen top BCS league defenses while USC has not. The difference can't be too influenced by opponents having played USC and Texas because both USC and Texas average over 500 per game and would offer similar distortion.

It appears that Texas' offensive numbers are built against tougher defenses. Also, Texas is itself a top defensive team (#6 in total defense). USC hasn't seen one of those yet. Texas has seen opponents with top defenses (like Ohio State). And USC does not have a top defense (#35).

I hope it matters because I'm pulling for Texas.
